IT. My favorite King novel to date and the most classically horrific.
IT.
The Dark Tower. IT is my favorite Novel, but collectively, the Dark Tower is my favorite King work. But they screwed up the casting so bad with Elba that I have little interest in seeing it. But I still hope it is good...
I'm kind of the opposite. I've never read anything of Owen King's. When it comes to Stephen, however, not only do I prefer it supernatural, I would rather it be overtly horrific. I'm a horror fan first and foremost. Anytime Stephen King deviates from that, I'm less interested.
I'll be honest, the last few King releases haven't exactly wowed me. If this is about a woman's prison, well, it's not something that is urging me to read.
But there's so little information out about it, and I didn't even hear about it until today. Maybe it'll appear more enticing the closer...
I've done Nano a couple of times, around '09,'10. I find it actually hampers my ability to write, though. I spend far too much time on their forums, or browsing the status of other's projects. And if I see someone else who has an awesome title and blurb, I become discouraged and begin to wonder...
This reminds me of something my brother said a while back. He's a staunch militant atheist, so I assumed he'd also disregard a belief in spirits and ghosts. Turns out that's not the case. He believes it's quite possible that hauntings might be real.
I found that profoundly more distressing...
Jack the Ripper features prominently in the novel I'm currently reading entitled, "Shadow of Frankenstein." It's officially licensed by Universal. From the blurb on the back:
"Henry Frankenstein--a brilliant scientist, driven to unlock the mysteries of life and death, he created a monster of...
Let me first off start by saying that I' a religiously minded person. I believe humans have a spirit that lives on after they die. I've always rejected, however, the notion of hauntings, of ghost stories because I fail to see how they fit in with my religious beliefs. Questions about why they...
That's cool. Like I said, Mr. Mercedes actually exceeded my expectations. It was a decent read and I tore through it pretty fast. "Finders Keepers," just had a better hook for me, with the literary angle. It also left me eager for the concluding chapter, hinting at what Brady might be up to next.
This book was far more engaging for me. My biggest gripe with Mr. Mercedes was that the characters by and large were not that sympathetic, nor likable. I also thought that the general plot of the criminal taunting the retired cop who couldn't crack the case to be fairly generic. In all, still...
Sad news for horror fans. I'm not that familiar with his work, but I know he was always considered a giant in the field.
Prayers for his family and friends.
Has anyone seen this meme going around?
It's apparently making the rounds on social media sites. I was unaware at first, of course, because I don't do social media. Anyways, it seems a lot of people are actually believing this. I found out about it because an acquaintance told me about it...
Yes, "Little Sisters of Eluria" takes place before the Dark Tower Cycle, though after the flashback events you'll read about in "Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass." Roland's search for the Dark Tower is still new here and he is already on the trail of the man in black.
My brother told me about this earlier today and I thought he was kidding. I wish he had been. I just watched "A Nightmare on Elm Street" a few nights ago and it reminded me of just how great of a film that was. It might be the greatest horror movie of modern times.
I picked up a copy of "The...
Agreed. I'm glad that they want to do something different tonally, emphasize different things than the original show does. That was part of the draw of this show. I just don't know if I will like the direction they've chosen. And like I said, a big part of this was characters. I just didn't like...
I didn't like the premier. It was so boring and nothing really seemed to happen, which is bad considering the extra long run time the first episode had. The flaws of the premier are made even more obvious when you compare it to the excellent premier of its parent show. In the Walking Dead, you...
