I never used to like King material.
Didn't even know Salems Lot was his.
I loved Salems Lot. Never bothered to associate the author with the story.

But I'm attempting my first book. So I read Mr. Kings "On Writing".

Wow, instant fan of his fluid communicating, or is it smooth and easy reading? I am a changed person. A lot to relate to and it gives me courage.

So there I was talking about the glories of Mr. King to my wife, who just hummed and hawed.

And there was my daughter behind me looking at his book and just learning to read herself, the only thing she said was, "why couldn't he say this in four pages?"

"What, say what?"

"How to write, why can't he just say it in four pages?"

Oh the innocence of our kids...and yet Mr. King probably plagiarized many a child to come up with his brilliant segments.

Thanks Mr. King for a great and candid view on writing. And I'll have a talk with my daughter. (I hope she doesn't think he puts his pants on, one leg at a time. :)
