....I will just jump in quick like and say Centralia as a former community is just freakin' strange....awesome for explorers, though the fires of hell rage below.....
I liked this ghost story about a real ghost town. As I was reading this, I was expecting a bad end for Burt and Vicky. I'm glad they got the chance to bail mom out. 
Very enjoyable story. Liked the brother and sister connection. Description of the town made you feel like you were in the car with them.
Another thought - Bev made the characters believable. Their banter and concerns were appropriate for their ages.
In the afterward, Bev mentions that he has other Burt & Vicky stories.
That is "youth-speak". If 50 years is old, I am ancient and beyond!I didn't like them calling mom's 50 year old boyfriend very old.

I've read Bev's articles and interviews in CD magazine and I think I had read the Overtoun Bridge story somewhere before we read it a couple weeks ago. Maybe it was in CD magazine.
This was a fun story. I expected something bad to happen to them as well. They have a "you're never going to believe what happened!" story to tell everyone! This would be a good story for around a campfire.
Burt and Vicky have a habit of ending up in abandoned places. Two other stories featuring them are Blue Plume in the anthology The Mothman Files (set in the polluted and empty town of Cheshire, Ohio) and The Shrieking Woman in Shivers VIII (set in an abandoned psychiatric hospital).
