Just seen a preview of the Elevation cover, I am assuming this will be the US cover? I love it, It always takes so long to see the UK covers though!
I bet I like this one better than the UK one haha! Anyone seen or know what the UK cover will look like? Moderator ?

Why do all King novels now indicate “A Novel” under the title? Do the publishers think we’re not smart enough to know a book (with pages, words, and all), that includes a title and an author’s name, is a novel? Or is it some silly legal thing to keep King and the publisher from being sued by people who think they might be buying a burrito?

That's a particularly good question since I'm not sure this one even technically qualifies as a "novel." My understanding is that it is very short. More a "novella" or short story on steroids as potentially boosted in length by double spacing and blank pages between chapters. Gwendy's, for example, is listed at 175 pages and this one at 144.

It's not just Steve's books as I've seen it on other authors' books as well but I don't know the "why" publishers are now adding that.

So exciting to see the new cover. The art has a more cosmic Under the Dome vibe. very cool!
From what I know, adding "A Novel" to the cover is another way to make classification and shelving easier in book stores (distinguishes fiction from non-fiction), but SK's choice to call a novella-length work a novel is really interesting. Perhaps the book's release in October will provide more insight.

It's even included in the bestsellers listings in the Sunday paper. They will have the title of the book followed by the words A Novel. Yes, we've really been 'dumbed down' now.....:p

Probably so people know it isn't nonfiction or biography or what not.
