Oh Flake I wish I could have seen Bowie. Love him.

I saw AC DC at the Hammersmith Odeon for the Back in Black tour and it was a blast. Great woman I went with so that made it even better. I saw them a few more times after and the For Those About to Rock tour damaged my hearing. Near the front with cannons blasting? Not a good idea. Back in Black will always be my favorite of theirs. Lots of good memories from that concert.

Pink Floyd is my favorite all time band though. The London concert was the most expensive ever put on. They crashed a plane FS and built the wall on stage as they sang. Love Floyd. Gilmore is a master without equal in his style. He invented that style in fact.

Although they are not a band exactly I like Allan Parsons Project a lot. Tales of Mystery and Imagination and the I Robot albums I wore out as a youngster. For stage show I love Alice Cooper. He is as strong a singer as ever now. Stronger. The guy does one hell of a performance.

He was just wonderful... I miss having him in the world, so much!

Pink Floyd is another favourite of mine (I love Roger Waters Amused to Death album too) and I had an AC/DC phase as well... Back in Black is great.

I'm all over the place with music, I love a lot of Metallica and then I'm wanting Eurythmics or Aretha Franklin, I just love music. But David will always be my number one.

I have any number of favored artists and groups. Almost too many to mention. Guitarists, you can argue Vaughn, Hendrix, Prince, Santana, just any number of superb and sublime performers. Singers, bands, keyboardists, drummers. Groups, so many who bring their unique contribution that nobody else does. And then you have someone like, say, Bob Seger, who doesn't bring wondrous artistry into the mix, but whose lyrics and expression of them just pierce my heart. And in terms of individual talent, Keith Emerson did things with the keyboard that no one else did. That has to count for something.

But for a blend of musicality and lyrics, Pink Floyd stands above and beyond. They're fine for some, don't appeal to others, hit the soul of others. All that is fine. But for a level of talent for bringing a certain quality of words and music together in a startling blend of artistry sustained over many years, I haven't heard anyone else comparable. You don't need to like them or appreciate what they produce - but from Dark Side to Wall, they were in a class by themselves.

Seems to be a good range of ages on the SKMB so I was wondering what our musical taste was like (obviously our reading taste is impeccable or we wouldn't be here)

Personally, my favourite band was and still is Motorhead since hearing Ace of Spades way back in 1980. I know Lemmy had a rough-as-**** vocal delivery but that was all part of the reason I loved the band. As for musicianship, the sound he got out of that Rickenbacker was simply awesome!

There's my pick. What's yours?

It's a tie between Warren Zevon and Roy Orbison.

Too many.

My bucket list for seeing in concert were the Beatles, The Who, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Beach Boys, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, U2, Jethro Tull, Led Zepplin, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Yes.

Only got to see George Harrison of the Beatles in concert, and have yet to see The Who and U2.

Top individuals would probably have to be Eric Clapton, John/Paul/George of the Beatles, Frank Zappa and Pete Townshend.

I literally have too many to list here, but I'll try...

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
Lynyrd Skynyrd (the original lineup)
The Kinks
The Ramones
Metallica
Guns N Roses
The Rolling Stones
Van Halen
Johnny Cash
Conway Twitty (the only man my mom ever loved as much as she loved me ;;D)
Alabama
Hootie and the Blowfish (and by extension, Darius Rucker...he's amazing live)
George Jones
Loretta Lynn

I could literally add to this list all day long...

My Holiest of Holy:

1) Led Zeppelin
2) Pink Floyd
3) Rolling Stones

Everything else is a revolving door including The Beatles, The Doors, Rush, Jane's Addiction, and a host of others.

Crap, I can't believe I left The Doors off my list. As you can figure out by my sig, Roadhouse Blues is one of my favorite songs.

Prog Rock fan, here. Rush, Genesis, Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson. I like pretty much every genre except really twangy county and opera vocals.

John Denver is my guilty pleasure. His music got me through my teens. I was gutted when he died.

I also love Hawaiian music, especially kahiko and oli (old chants and hula music). I used to dance hula.

Anyway, from Bluegrass to reggae to choir, and everywhere in between (except as noted).

Oh wow, I must be the oddball here... None of my bands have been mentioned. *twitch*

I like a lot of bands, but these are some ultimate favourites:

The Cranberries (my pet band)
Amorphis
Christy Moore
Sinéad O'Connor
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Within Temptation (their older work)
Nightwish
Tristania (first two albums, plus the third one if I'm in the mood)
Midnattsol (first three albums, I'm not too impressed with their newest record)

I'm also into Irish music in general. I have Irish roots (which my father won't let me forget for one minute, and I'm thankful for that), so it basically feels like coming home. O'Neill's March is rolling through this house frequently. Loud.
