Gift for retiring civil servant

Need some advice. I have a good friend who is retiring after 30 years of service as a police officer, and his favorite author is Stephen King. I am in the process of obtaining a first addition of his favorite book 'The Talisman' and was wondering if there was any way to get Mr. King to sign it for him as a gift.

Any advice would be helpful.

Sorry, but he stopped signing books sent through the mail over a decade ago and only does it at official book signings these days.

There are places where you can buy signed books on the secondary market that are reputable such as Betts Books which is an online retailer that can be trusted and several people who are members have had good experiences with the owner, David Williamson.
