Just reading that he passed away last week. I remember as a kid that getting to watch "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was like some right of passage. You didn't know what to expect. In the days before the Internet, it was like some legendary taboo film that might cause you to go mad with terror. It seems a bit tame in hindsight but still works. I remember reading King mentioned once (Danse Macabre?) that he met Gunnar and how weird it was to introduce his kids to Leatherface even though he knew he was just a regular guy.
