Hello,
Yes, I am new here. Almost gave up with all the rigamarole to get to post. Rarely do I ever engage in forums.
Stephen King has long been an inspiration to me.
The first and most inspiring book was IT. The story had nothing to do with it. The outstanding way Mr. King took five different points of view to the present, then 30 years forward, then back amazed me. You didn't have to ever stop to figure out who was who.
I've read over 25 of his novels. Phrases still stick with me, like the description of the word Haiku: 'a breath of air punctuated by a k.'
The last two I read were really disappointing, causing me to wonder if Mr. King is losing his former talent.
I don't even remember the title of the one with the broken down car at the rest stop that ate everyone who came near it while the kid at the top of the hill slept. I just didn't get it.
This last one, I just finished, The Long Walk, though. Oh my. Mr. King, i hope this isn't a trend. I felt I had to finish it out of respect.
I still love ya.
Welcome to the Board - I think you are describing "From a Buick 8" (as one you disliked) and the second book you mention was written as Richard Bachman (Mr. King's "alter ego") many years ago.

As far as the rigmarole - don't know much about that as when I joined we did not have to jump through hoops.

Welcome to the SKMB anyway Cheryl N
