A great song about the lonely performer is one most of you probably haven't heard, Neil Young's, "On The Beach." The song deals with wanting fame and hating it at the same time. I love the line "I need a crowd of people, but I can't face them day to day."

Great song! Funny you should post that I was thinking about posting this one by him..........

There is a town in north Ontario,
With dream comfort memory to spare,
And in my mind
I still need a place to go,
All my changes were there.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.
Leave us

Helpless, helpless, helpless
Baby can you hear me now?
The chains are locked
and tied across the door,
Baby, sing with me somehow.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.
Leave us

Helpless, helpless, helpless.

Kiss is one of my favorite bands ever.
Have you heard this one from Creatures of the Night? ...... good showcase of Paul's vocal ability
He has a gorgeous, unique voice. Did you know he was doing Phantom of the Opera off-broadway last year? And he has an autobiography coming out this year. I loved his solo album. (Plus one of my first teen crushes--lol)

Yep, KISS fan here, too :)

"Take the Long Road Home" by Supertramp always tugs at my heart, the glow of fame starkly contrasted against the realities of a failed relationship at home:

So you think you're a Romeo
playing a part in a picture-show
Take the long way home
Take the long way home

'Cause you're the joke of the neighborhood
Why should you care if you're feeling good
Take the long way home
Take the long way home

But there are times that you feel you're part of the scenery
All the greenery is comin' down, boy
And then your wife seems to think you're part of the
furniture oh, it's peculiar, she used to be so nice.

When lonely days turn to lonely nights
You take a trip to the city lights
And take the long way home
Take the long way home

You never see what you want to see
Forever playing to the gallery
You take the long way home
Take the long way home

And when you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable,
Oh unforgettable, how they adore you,
But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity,
Oh, calamity, is there no way out?

Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe?
Oh, it has to be for you to grow , boy.
When you look through the years and see what you could
have been oh, what you might have been,
If you'd had more time.

So, when the day comes to settle down,
Who's to blame if you're not around?
You took the long way home
You took the long way home...

Yep....I heard he was doing Phantom of the Opera....Wish I could see it. I will be looking for the autobiography. Paul is my favorite member of Kiss....I even loved him before they took off the make-up. He's quite an artist, too....:)
