Movie Review--Children of the Corn

I'll admit I've never seen this movie, as it came out when I was still pretty much an infant and it never really occurred to me to give it a watch. When I saw the Nostalgia Critic's review of it, I figured all potential scares would be ruined by remembering the talking Isaac doll, the spot-on (and very '90's) "Children of the Corn Flakes" cereal commercial, and Doug flailing around while screaming "NO! DON'T FILL ME WITH DIETERY FIBER!"

With that said, I still get a creepy feeling in the summer when I drive down a quiet road that possesses no other traffic and corn fields on either side of my car :O

This one's long overdue for a re-read on my part ...... or even watch the movie .. I seem to remember the first one not being quite so bad as to not be bearable to see just one more time after all this time ....

My friend pulled up a map on her phone and insisted we turn one way and I was sure we were to turn the other, and we got to yammering about it for a minute until she drew her face in all pinched-like and said "question not my judgment, Malachi."

Still makes me laugh.

Oh, I've got a confession to make... Twenty years ago, when the world was young and everything seemed possible, I watched The Shining for the first time with a friend. This girl was nearly six feet tall and a keen kickboxer - very tough and not the type to be spooked or intimidated, in other words - but The Shining REALLY scared her. She actually had to hide her face at times, it was disturbing her so badly. I, of course, guffawed my way through it.

Anyway, we were sleeping in her room that night (her parents were away and we had the house to ourselves). In the middle of the night, I could tell that she was awake, and I started chanting, "Red rum, red rum, red rum," in Danny's voice. She... really wasn't happy about it.

Looking back, I'm lucky she didn't give me a crash course in kickboxing...

It was twenty years ago, and I do feel bad about it!

Gotta agree with Cyrus here. When I was an wee adolescent, my older brother and his girlfriend took me to the theater. We were trying to decide which movie to see and I chose Children of the Corn, naturally. After it was over, I realized that I should've picked Splash.
