I've noticed a lot of people hating on Pete (not so much on here) and for the life of me and I cannot figure out why. A popular complaint is that "he's a goody-two-shoes" or something but, like, yeah he was a really good kid but that just made it more effective in that he did nothing wrong to deserve what happened to his family. In my opinion, he was a really relatable and realistically written kid. What did you guys think of him?

There was a woman who owned(?) a football team. She used the n-word talking to and about some of the players on her team.

When she was being interviewed, I think by Diane Sawyer, she said "everyone uses that word" and Diane said that no, she personally NEVER used it. The woman had a look that said she did not believe it. In her world everyone does use the word and I'm sure she believes Diane was just wussing out and lieing.

I had no problem believing Diane because I NEVER use that word, and nobody in my friends or family ever does either.

So, what I'm trying to get around to is...maybe these people who think Pete is an unbelievable character because he's such a "goodie two shoes" just don't have the experience of actually knowing kids who actually are good and have been raised well.

I liked Peter in Finders Keepers....he was a good kid who liked reading books in school...who was in a family who were struggling with finances...and was trying to do the best for his family to stay together through hard times....
I liked his enthusiasm for the Rothstein books....and in the end he tried to get them to a museum or library....he was a good character
