I don't often start threads (y'all are just so interesting that it keeps me busy enough;DD), but I'm truly curious about this: how many of you watch book trailers? Has one ever convinced you to buy (or not buy) a book? I honestly don't watch them (not even my own, to the publicist's angst-lol), but maybe I'm just too old to 'get' them? Thoughts?

LOL! For some reason known only to the gods of irony, the ole noggin spits out mainly women's lit, some contemporary (chick lit), and some historical. No bodice rippers or BDSM, I'm afraid (my wallet would love that, though, cause that ****e SELLS)--humorous, family, and relationship centered.

Historical takes much research, I bet.
Most definitely. Worst is tracking down the elusive, "I KNOW I read that (whatever fact is currently torturing me) somewhere!" Could be the Internet, could be a book, newspaper, whatever. Or maybe my brain made it up and then tried to give itself creedence by remembering whatever the hell it is as FACT. *sigh*

I hardly ever watch them. Even for my favorite authors. Books are to be read; not "watched." That's my simple observation. Movie trailers, yes, of course I watch those; that makes sense.
See, I totally agree! I think they're dumb (to be completely honest). Maybe it's a generational thing? Genre related? I dunno. I just wondered if I was alone in my incomprehension :)

I don't understand why there are book trailers. Do we not have any imagination anymore?
Sadly I think many kids don't have much imagination, too many video games, social media etc. Heck when I was a kid there were probably 5 channels on tv, no vcrs and no internet. I guess that's why I became an avid reader at a young age. My kids can't imagine tv actually going off the air lol

HAHA! When I introduced my kids to the movie Poltergeist, I had to explain the TV 'snow'. They've not lived in a world where *GASP* TV GOES OFF THE AIR(unless the power is out). Sobering.
