I loved this book, but it was sad. Or it made me sad anyway.
The N word was used casually in sitcoms as late as the 80s, airing on BBC 1 and 2. I was shocked when I started watching The Young Ones - I didn't really watch them properly until the late 90s/early 00s. I'm not sure about book titles but I guess in the less p.c days even a book with that title wouldn't have raised too many eyebrows. In Canada, I think, it was called Ten Little Indians. Never heard the Brit version. Could they use the N word even? Wow, Christie died in 1976, I think.
I've never heard it called that. I heard Ten Little Indians.Agatha Christie book
And Then There Were None or in the UK, it was called Ten Little N***ers.

Theres a reason for it! It is one of the really great books. You never will forget Ralph, Jack or Piggy......I haven't read it. maybe I should give it a look. I was a bit unsure as I remember my sister having to read it in high school!
She often named books after childrens songs or sayings. It was first called Ten little Indians in the states instead but they changed that rather soon.....I personally loved the movie, surprised by the UK title. What was with that?
Yeah but it was written in the 30-ties. Not exactly a decade known for keeping racial slurs low....In Canada, I think, it was called Ten Little Indians. Never heard the Brit version. Could they use the N word even? Wow, Christie died in 1976, I think.
