...Both Tracy and I have to work on Turkeyday...so since we're both off Saturday looks like we flip the bird-so to speak-that day, she'll mechanize and be a whirling dervish in the kitchen, I'll get underfoot and be yelled at(another holiday/daily tradition), family and friends will bring food and we shall grub most heartily...the sharing will be leavened by a the bittersweet fact that my warrior to be will still be at bootcamp-and not home...first of many Thanksgivings without him...but I will say a prayer and thanks for being blessed with such a good child...

Good vibes and shield of protection for your son, Scott. Will he be home for Christmas?

It will be hard. But just be proud. Its always harder than day for our soldiers than for us.Be thinking of your family that day. Happy thanksgiving to you all.

...yes honey...he is supposed to be with us after December 20th for a few days...it's going to be a rough one, because there has been a ton of drama related to his personal life while he was away-we had to step in, and now he seems to have cut us off from all communication after only hearing one side of the story...Tracy and I are just prayerful we'll get it settled...we certainly don't want a rift due to the selfishness and manipulation of others...

Will hold your family in unifying vibes. No rifts, only calm. understanding and unity.

Much less so for Christmas. That seems to be more whatever the particular family tradition is. I usually do a prime rib roast but am thinking about doing something with lobster this year depending on the price just to mix it up a little.
Ooooo Lobster (we call it crayfish)...thats a bit fancy! We generally speaking, consider Turkey one of the traditional meats...but more so Ham...and any roast really. This year we are having Turkey though and I'm quite looking forward to it, its been years since I tasted it. Kinda freaks me out how it looks like a giant chicken, when I see it in the shop.

Around here, crayfish are usually found in fresh water and lobster in salt water and there's generally a big difference in the size and taste. My partner and I aren't particularly fond of ham so we wouldn't be having it even if it was traditional for Christmas. If I do decide on lobster, it will be as a lobster pie not lobster in the shell which is not at all fancy for us. :)

What will you be having? will you be fixing dinner or going elsewhere for dinner? Will you be traveling? Maybe some special recipes or traditions. We will be staying home for turkey day. The usual dinner. We will have circle corn. (corn on the cob) sons only dinner request.
Typical: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, green bean casserole (homemade, thank you--no canned soup!), disgusting candied yams (love yams, hate the 'candied' part), pies, rolls...

Since my dad and brother died, mom can't face doing it, so we've hosted here for the last four years or so. :)

KFF, how is your eye? I'm usually offline from Thursday night to Mon night, so if you've answered this elsewhere, my apologies for attacking an expired equine (if that's the case) :p

I've never tried Turkey, I'd like to though... and I don't eat crayfish. (or any seafood)
Our crayfish are salt water, M--but are far smaller than your lobster I think. (I think we may have a fresh water cray too though?)
I dont eat Cray's either but at $60 each approx @Moderator you'd be put in the pie yourself for doing that to it! Its considered very fancy here. Funny, for an island.
Anywho other than my strange child who loves the legs (ever look at your beloved kids and wonder where they came from-not in a literal sense...that much, I know) none of us eat it.

I posted in the scary eye thread. Thank-you for asking.
