I tried to watch this. All the sex just totally takes me out of the story. Yes, I'm a total buzzkill. It seems that sex becomes a way of getting protection, favors, human contact etc... in a prison setting--it seems to be integral to that life and I understand they have to include it, but I feel that these shows, just because they can, do. It isn't always necessary to be so graphic. If I want to watch graphic sex, I'll get a porn. Which I don't. and I won't. The shock value that so many of these shows go for has jumped the horny shark and become just tacky gross to me.

Strange, i didn't think the sex was very graphic at all. I mean tv-series like Game of Thrones and Spartacus or Rome, to mention just three, are much worse. There i think they are sometimes unnessesary graphic There are some nudity here, showerrooms, and a few brief sex scenes that end very soon without allowing the horny viewer to see very much.. Compared to other movies and Tv-series i think they are very mild.

lol! I agree HBO seems to be the king of sex for sex's sake, but maybe I just saw a particularly sex filled episode! lol!

The characters are great and the story lines so far have been really good.

It is possible they hotted it up a bit in season two. Haven't seen that. But in the first season it was more about intrigues between the prisoners, between the guards and between the guards and the prisoners and how difficult it is to keep a relationship going when one of the partners is in jail. Not a very flattering picture of american prison system either by the way.

I'm not a prude, but I don't appreciate anything when there's too much of it or it's over the top. Art is including what's necessary and nothing else. I haven't seen the show but imagine that HBO figures to maintain viewership by using sensationalism, not necessarily art. This kind of failure can happen in subsequent seasons of what was originally a well-written show when, once the fact that it's a good show is public, the producers decide to save money by hiring lesser writers. I've seen happen again and again.

I'm not a prude when it comes to movies and books, art etc.... either. If something is vital to the story, it has to be included or it is not authentic. But when it is just done because they can, or they feel they need to show some T & A to get the viewers or readers, it's insulting to me. It's almost as if they have lost confidence in the quality of the story, in their ability to tell it.

Yes, and rarely does one find an abundance of sensationalism with a good story well told.

I actually liked the first season better than the second, but the second is great, also, nonetheless.
The third season is going to air sometime this spring.
