Hi forum, it's been a while.

Last summer I ignored "Finders Keepers" because the story didn't capture my attention. I went out and bought his new book today. I was so disapointed! Most of the stories I had already read because they had been released previously. What is so exclusive about it?

I was suspicious about how great this book was going to be. From the new ones - that I haven't read - only "The Dune" captured my attention. The rest was extremely disapointing. Where are you early 10'S King?

Having a minor flutter attack because I got the new Mosley in the mail today! Did not think they'd give it to me to review :) It releases at the end of January. I've not read any of his speculative fiction before this one, so I'm curious what his take will be.

I disagree-- really enjoying Bazaar. King's been crazy consistent since Lisey's Story.

Even tho most of the stories in TBOBD have been previously published, most of the general King-reading population isn't going to rush out to their nearest bookstore to plop down cash to buy the latest edition of Playboy just so they can read a new King story, so most of these tales are going to be new to alot of King fans. I've read most of the previously published tales contained in TBOBD, but once I finish reading the new ones I will go back and re-read the others because they're just that darn good.

I bought all of the stories i could in their respective magazines, but never read them. So, most of these are all new to me!

I used to try and get all of King's short fiction when it was published, but this time I intentionally avoided them as much as possible. I have read or listened to 4 or 5 of the pieces, but the rest will be brand new. A also for the first time I'll sample the stories while reading a couple of other books. I can never manage to get through a collection in one go. I have a massive collection of J G Ballard tales I've been reading for years. It has over 90 stories and almost a thousand pages.

Some of the previously published stories have been revised for the collection. In the intro to UR, SK says the story was revised quite a bit (I have the original kindle story, so I'll have to compare when I'm done - probably technology updates). So even in the ones we've read before, there is a little bit of new. I had read Mile 81, UR, Blockade Billy & Morality previously but the rest are new to me.

I have a magazine insert of The Raft that was included in the men's magazine The Gallery. The magazine was not something that I read and I actually went out and bought the magazine just for that story. Of course, while I was looking for the story, I probably glanced at a few of the photos ;-D. I still have that insert (not the magazine it came in). I wonder how much of a collectible it is.

I am not one for short stories--although Mr. King's do have a certain chutzpah and I am willing to give them a go.

I have often found when I do a re-read, which is not often, I find something new in that read every time and the story re-winds around me.

If Mr. King wrote it, I'll turn a page. Maybe today is the day I'll carry through the story, if not, maybe next month or next year.

Here's a blurry photo of it. That is my actual hand, not a hand model. (Should this go in selfies thread? ;-D)

Started the Bazaar.... But i'm hopeless in a bookstore. I went in to buy one book and came out with four (4). Sigh Good books though. Bradburys Something wicked (which i have read but for some reason aint a part of my library) a Maberry and a Paul Anderson. Andersons is one of his Alternate history made before it was a genre. The High Crusade is set in the 14th century before the plague where the english are preparing for one of their many wars with france when they are visited by aliens and history takes another course. Written about 1960.

We'll let this one slide.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and too lazy to pull my copy down from the shelf), but wasn't this a re-written version of a story called The Float, that appeared in yet another girlie mag wayyyy back inna day?

Think that's what the man said. If so, somebody needs to find THAT sucker.
