Tonight was interesting. I learned about the Roman empire. What a vast machine they were.
If you're interested in learning some things that most people don't know about the Romans, Terry Jones' Barbarians is quite good.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just had no idea what a take over machine they were. I'm taking a class about the development of the bible, how it was written, who wrote it, why you can't take it literally, how Christianity came to be, Catholicism, Protestantism, et al - and last night's class focused on the world environment that Jesus was born into. It's been a fascinating class. It's 26 weeks a year for 3 years. I'm in for the long haul. My brain is going to be so big.

Well if you still want to be pulling a paycheck you should probably stick with your library job! (the SKMB after-hours Moderators are voluntary staff)where do I apply to work as a mod for SK? What a cool job that would be!! Instead, I have to labour in a library...sigh...guess it could be worse, lol.
Re-reading Danse Macabre at the moment, picked up a lovely illustrated copy for three dollars, mint cond. Have some library books to read too, when I've paid my overdue fines...lol
Jonah's death has been heart-breaking. He was doing so well even with the kidney disease. When his transplanted kidney failed it was terrifying, but he was managing with dialysis and was in better health than he had been for a while. Perhaps the flight home from his holiday after the world cup had more of a significant impact on his health than first realised.Sad about Jonah Lomu only 40 years old. Pretty unstoppable at his peak.
Awesome! I loved Arthur when my kids watched it. I think I'm going to start recording it again and enjoy it. I'd love to see that one.My kiddo was just watching "Arthur" (PBD kids' TV show) and the episode revolved around a locker everyone said was haunted. It was locker 237 and the boy whose ghost supposedly haunts it was named "Jack". A nod to "the Shining" in a cartoon about 3rd graders. Love it!

You must go.
She has extended an olive branch. Pick the damn thing up and try your very hardest.
Even though it is Thanksgiving, do not go if it makes you feel bad. You have enough going on right now with the move.No olive branch, we never had any disagreement. Just drifted apart. I never really knew her growing up, but bonded together when mom was sick and then passed, mostly saw her in hospital rooms. Then funeral. She took care of it all.
Not since.
I am not going. I will cry.
