Oh God - I just got a chill down my back - I had some scary dreams lately.

Tell them! I love other peoples scary dreams. I haven't had one in ages. The last bad one I had was of an alligator taking my son under water and having to pull myself along his body until I got to the gator so I could jab it's eyes. I woke up still holding my breath.

My mom's birthday is tomorrow and one of her friends of MANY years invited her to lunch. They made these plans months ago. I would like to point out that this friend is a multi-millionaire. They actually met 25+ years ago because my mom was their housekeeper. Anyway...this "friend" at first tells my mom to pick where she'd like to go (they have socialized and gone to restaurants together dozens of times in the past - most of the time my mom pays her own way). Today, when it came to the final decision on where they should go, this "friend" decided they should just go to her place and eat leftovers!! On my mom's birthday! How tacky is THAT?!

My mom is so gracious, she isn't even offended by this - I am steaming mad. Selfish, greedy and tacky people (especially those who have so much to give) are despicable to me. I will be taking my mom to a nice restaurant for dinner and showering her with gifts I cannot afford (thank you, Visa). Sorry for the rant, I am just so floored by the lack of class. (As I was writing this, decided to post it in the "I Am Angry Today" thread as well.)

morgan Good for you Morgan. Scratch said it perfectly. I know my daughters have stood up for me and stood by me several
times and the circumstances were pretty nasty. It was appreciated so much.

I guess some people might not understand the point I was trying to make. Her "friend" is still treating her like she's her maid and that upsets and hurts me. She made my mom leftover fish. And as a birthday gift, she gave her the open cereal, crackers and miscellaneous items from her pantry that were about to expire.

How did your mom feel about it? I bet she graciously accepted the gifts and the meal. Showing her to be a kind and gentle soul- and the better person in life.

Okay, that's just horrible. Unbelievable someone could be so demeaning to someone else.

That's just plain rude.

What the? I have no words. Yes, I do - but I would get banned. So sorries.

Wow... quite different to my earlier understanding, oh yes.

Now... my Grandma and Nana always did that for me but....THEY ARE FAMILY!

I bet you gave your Mom a great birthday to make up for it, Morgan. :)

I'd been wondering how that lunch date went. I wouldn't call that a friend. I'm sorry this happened to your mom. What are people thinking when they do such callous things?
