Part 5 and final LeppLady's gift from mal.
My first thought when signing up for Secret Santa was "How cool!". I get to use my
earnest profiling skills to 'stalk' a member of the SKMB and try to
research all past posts to come up with a list of interests and create a really,
really good 'bit' package which will delight and entertain my board buddy. All of
you regular inhabitants and frequent passers by certainly make this a positive task!
Coming to the board for the first time I was very nervous and wondered
how or what I could contribute. I loves me my Stephen King books and the underlying
reality of conversing with other fans on the web site made me a bit nervous and instilled
in me some anxiety. Over time I found the people on this site to be regular friendly folks
shining brightly in their friendliness, care, goofiness and knowledge. I remember
thinking, after a few months on the board, how much I enjoyed the experience. I hope
my own contributions have also mixed in with the board soup to make it even tastier. When
a book (or books) cause a common chord to be struck amongst the ever constant readers,
situations occur which can bring others together (and there is not enough of that).
'Likes' were a new experience for me as I never hopped on the 'social media' bandwagon,
even though I followed it in the news. When logging on to SKMB I was always excited to
peek at the 'Alerts' tab and see the number of likes I received. A few weeks into my
posting journey I realized I was never clicking that button myself. I do now.
Lately I've realized that this is quite a valid form of human communication. I
always thought that, if there is no physical connection, there is no way to
determine what is real and you must take everything at face value. That's why,
year after year, sarcasm always gets misunderstood in it's written form.
Mister Smiley Face Winking icon has done a lot to improve on this. I start to
always ramble so that means this introduction to your 'bit' gift is about to
lose it's steam. Merry Christmas Lepp Lady, Mal
