Bicyclists that want to cycle on main roads in heavy traffic.
Now here's a thing I really don't get.
I'm an avid cyclist and fortunate to live in a place where bike paths are a priority. Even so, you'll often see cyclists insisting upon riding in traffic even in areas where paths are available. These are usually the guys all dressed up like they're in the
Tour de France. I wouldn't have a problem with this, generally, except that many cyclists do not strictly follow the traffic laws. That's dangerous in itself, and it also makes drivers leery around cyclists -- even those who do obey traffic laws -- because they're never sure what the crazy bicycle guy might do.
So, what happens is you get drivers holding up traffic and annoying everybody because they feel they have to cede the right-of-way to cyclists all the time, because they don't want to kill anybody ... or maybe they do want to kill somebody, but their better judgment prevails. In any case, the combination of people who don't know how to drive and cyclists who feel they belong in traffic but don't necessarily want to follow the actual rules -- and all of these people talking on the phone while everything is happening -- well ... you know ... it's a bad mix.
You know ... the more I think about it ... the world would be a much better place if it wasn't for all the damn people.
