Pretty sure they still call it "tonic" in the old west part of Maine. Growing up in Atlanta we called any cola-looking soft-drink "Coke". There wasn't anything else.
Yep, same here in Alabama. The conversation usually sounds like this :
"I'm going to the store, want anything?"
"Yeah, will you get me a coke?"
"Sure...what kind do you want?"
This may sound odd to the out-of-towners but a coke can mean any carbonated soft drink.

I'm thinking about getting rid of cable and getting Hulu, supplemented by Netflix, while keeping the internet. Have you had any problems with Hulu?

Not a bit. We watch through our Blu-Ray player but also have the app on our laptops and Kindles. One password works for all.

It's worth the extra to get Hulu Plus. No commercials is a huge perk. Their selection of shows is amazing. Finding the old Night Gallery episodes was worth a month's fee. They don't have everything but you'll be pleased, if you're anything like us. You can always cancel if you aren't happy. But, between Netflix and Hulu, you should be good.

Wow - 121 more messages to read!

Well - it is early in the a.m. so I just wanted to say hello - I had to work last weekend which messed up my schedule.

All is well here and it's around minus 8 today, which means it has warmed up - we were down to the minus 20s and even lower if you factored in the wind chill.

Happy Friday!

I'll try to be good today and not monkey around - hope to get on this board this weekend!

Happy Friday!

This flu has me feeling @#!$*! I do think I am kicking it, though. Maybe, hopefully, knock on wood. I felt just terrible when I got up again, but a shower and a little effort at looking like a human has made me feel quite a bit better. Scott is getting better too, but not fast enough to suit him, either.

If I continue getting better, I'm sure my weekend will be spent playing catch up in the house. The kids have been pretty good at helping out with some things, though.

I am craving sugar. I want ALL the sweets right now. I think because I'm so worn down, body is saying, give me some energy! Have not given in, but maybe I should get myself a candy bar before I really go on a sweets binge. :eat_pig:

Hope you all have a nice weekend. Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

(((((Cat and hubby))))) These days it seems to me viral bugs are sometimes more tenacious than they used to be. My head colds last a lot longer, for instance.

I was just going through my old photos in seacrh of one I remembered taking of some daisy for the daisy thread. I couldn;t find that but I did find this:

Opps I ran out of editing time. What I was going to say was I did come across this picture I took last summer:

Cemetary_zpswkjzirud.jpg

It is the US cemetary of Colleville-sur-Mer, just outside Arromanches in Normandy.

There were acres and acres of these, and also as well as the crosses there were huge numbers of Start of David memorials commemorating the Jewish Amercians that died in the landings.

What struck me as I walked around the acres and acres of these was that every one seemed to be for a boy of 18 or 19 from tiny villages all over the States from Alabama to Washington and it just saddened me that these kids had to die so far from home, before they had even begun to live in a foreign field where their parents can't even visit their gravesides.

As I said you cannot imagine the extent of these cemetaries. What a sacrifice, so sad but without that we would probably all be wandering around with swastikas on our arms over here now.

Sorry, but as I said I came across this when I was searching for the daisy picture (which I have now found) and just wanted to share it.
