I always recommend two novels, one of which is secular, Sphere by Michael Crichton, and the other religious, The Great Divorce by CSLewis.

You?
I just hit that one in the earlier post. If I was recommending a religious book, I like Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton and The Screwtape Letters is my favorite Lewis :)

Do you read widely, or do you tend to stick to one or two genres?

I try to read broadly, casting a wide net. I try not to pay attention to labels at a bookstore and I am quite adventurous with choosing titles.
However, I avoid certain genres and sub-genres that I know I don't typically enjoy (fantasy, for instance).

Do you like British writers?

I do, and Irish writers even more :)

How many books are you currently reading? Or do you read more than one at a a time?

Five. I juggle them all the time...not literally, lol.

Do you read more than one at a time?
I only recently started reading more than one book at a time. Think it has something to do with my attention span these days! ;-D Currently halfway through Tabby's Caretakers, on story Ur in BoBD, and just started Loving Amy by Janis Winehouse. Not to mention about three SK rereads I've put on hold!

Do you enjoy reading biographies and autobiographies?

Yes, I took a train ride from Saulte Ste. Marie.

Who is your favorite longhaired male?
Hmmm - that is a tough one :hmm:
This guy?

To be honest I prefer short hair on most men - I guess Keith Urban looks okay and most Native Americans with long hair.

Would you invite someone into your house if they advertised "Free Estimates"?

Not unless I had someone with me and research told me the person was licensed and bonded (indicating they really are a professional). Still not without another person (preferably an adult!) with me.

Do you ever do home repairs yourself?

I've knocked a couple of nails in, but that's about it. I am like Red Green - if you can't fix it with duct tape... (actually I really appreciate my current contractor - he does such excellent work!)
Which language do you think is the most difficult to learn and/or pronounce?

Yes, I try to do them.

Have you ever been overcharged for a home repair?
No but I think my husband got stiffed a bit when he paid out 25 thou to a guy to build our garage, renovate the upstairs bathroom, etc.
The guy came around looking for more money and we said forget it - the workmanship upstairs was pretty shoddy.

So I guess I will just repeat the other question above, since I can't think of a new one:

To learn: ASL (American sign language)
To pronoune/read/write: any languages that do not use the same alphabet as the learner.

Is English your first language? How many languages do you speak (or have you tried to learn)?
Yes, English is my first language. I heard my Dad speaking French to my grandpa when I was quite young (they were from Quebec) and of course heard Mom's quite strong Scottish accent growing up.

I took a six month French immersion course in Quebec that the military sent me on. Unfortunately I did not get posted to a French base, so lost most of my French, but I did pick it up quite quickly.

How do you get motivated to get cracking on housework on a day when you feel lazy?

I'm a clean freak, so I don't need much motivation...I can't truly relax until the house is immaculate so I get it done so I can sit and read.

Which appliance do you use most often?

It's a three way tie between the stove top, coffee maker and toaster oven

Have you tried taking supplements for better health?
