I hadn't seen that. Thanks.Lepplady, have you watched this guy's stuff on YT? Most of the blogs out there,I can't watch more than a minute or two, but I like him:

For season 7, I'm going out on a limb here and say, let's get rid of Rick and put a recuperated Carol in charge of the group. She has charisma, inner strength, savvy, experience and damn well knows how to handle herself.

Rick is the main character. I can't see him dying until the end. He'll come back, stronger and wiserYeah, except when she is leaving the group,or shooting your kid in the head,or twisting their minds with cookies and then standing back, like,"who me?" haha,no,I will stick with the Rickster..
Just human quirks is all. I still like her.Yeah, except when she is leaving the group,or shooting your kid in the head,or twisting their minds with cookies and then standing back, like,"who me?" haha,no,I will stick with the Rickster..

My reasoning is this:So I'm a week late with my thoughts on the finale and I'm going to drag stuff up again. Sorry, not sorry.
Who copped it? aka 'You picked a fine time to whop me, Lucille'.
It's clearly not Rick or Carl, given Negan's instruction to pull Carl's remaining eyeball out and feed it to Rick if anyone started whining. I'm semi-reliably informed that it is canon that Negan won't harm women, so that seems to rule them out and although comic-book Negan and screen-Negan might be animals of a markedly different stripe, the use of 'champ' in the closing scene seems to point to the victim being a man. Nor do I think that Negan would harm a wounded/weakened man, so Daryl survives and that's what Dwight meant in part when he said 'He'll be OK/fine' the week before.
As Negan went along the line, Abraham clearly made himself a target. Eugene was blubbing, so there'd be nothing to gain from that overall. It doesn't provide the best example. Then there was Aaron, who, along with Michonne, was barely seen during the parade sequence. Glenn was there, but given what everyone expects and how they played with the audience in the first half of the season, I can't see them going there (unless there's a bit of a double-bluff going on).
Personally, I think it had to be Abraham. He's just about the only one who could still be conscious after a good old slug like that.
If it was a woman, though, then I think it's fare-thee-well to Michonne. Either way in Negan's place you'd want to take out a danger and demoralise the group by killing one of the strongest and/or a leader.
Of course, being TWD as it's become, they'll probably go with Aaron having been offed as they can keep the core group intact while still claiming that they did indeed kill off a main character (even though, IMO, Aaron is a recurring one rather than a mainstay).
Carol and Morgan.
Nice timing all round, first by Morgan for taking out the Mostly One-Armed Man, then by the Rollerball Rejects who can, maybe, take them both to a place of actual safety rather than the original plan of going back to Alexandria. Who they are and what happens to C&M now...who knows? They're both dead in the comics, I know, so no one can really say for sure.
I'm really half-expecting them to do a 'hop in time' thing now, with the name of Negan's victim up on the wall and Morgan possibly finding a better fit for himself among the Rollerball Rejects.
I'm also kind of expecting them to allow Carol to have had an off-screen death and for Daryl to not appear much, if at all, in the first half of next season.
The overall feeling I was left with from the finale, though, was actually one of mild disappointment. Not a 'here go the teddies!' tantrum, but a feeling of 'Is that it? I watched and waited all that time for that?'
It didn't help that, again, sometimes the pacing and decision making felt a little off. Not massively, not like it sometimes is, but we'd surely already got the message that our mob were penned in after the second or third roadblock. It was done one time too many and slowed the pace rather than ramping tension (which was the effect that the first couple of times had). Some of the stuff with Morgan and Carol was also very, very slightly off, again diluting the tension. In fact, the biggest source of tension I found was Maggie.
I dunno, though. Maybe most of the disappointment that has been flying around came from the Negan 'reveal' not being much of a reveal at all due to all the stuff that had come out and/or was already known. Tbh I think it would have been fine as a mid-season finale, more than. But as a season ender? Hm...it wasn't awful by any means, but nor did it have me wishing it was October already (unlike the effect that S1 had on me; I couldn't wait for more).
My reasoning is this:Not Rick or Carl, for the reason you noted (and because it's Rick's show--lol). Not any of the women, but not because he doesn't kill women--he does. What he doesn't condone is rape. Anyway, he's making a show of strength, and men are usually physically stronger than women. Not Maggie because killing her would make a martyr. He wants them able and willing to serve him; cowed, but not mutinous. In the comics (sorry arista--lol) he pulled Michonne and I think it was Tyrese out because he didn't want to be accused of being racist , so that's that. Not Rosita, because there's no strong threat there either. Not Eugene because he's sniveling already. Not Daryl because he's already hurt--where's the advantage of killing someone who is little threat?
That leaves Aaron, Abraham, and Glenn. Killing Glenn would have a huge effect on the group; Negan has seen that there's a strong bond with the sick woman. Killing him is a STATEMENT. I think the show will go with this option. If I was Negan, however, Abraham is the one I'd bash. At this point, he looks like the strongest member of the group, and that 'F*** you' stare would seal the deal. This is a possibility for the show, as well. Aaron is the chickenshit way out. There was no good damn reason for him to even be there, so they're clearly setting him up either as a red herring or as an option. His death would mean nothing (except to the LGBT fans--I've been subject to numerous lectures as to why every LGBT character living a normal life matters and why it sucks so bad that most are being offed on multiple shows this season), so it shouldn't happen, but they could wuss out.
I said earlier that anyone who expected to see the death was fooling themselves. Death via barbed wire baseball bat is WAY too gory for basic cable. At most, we'd see exactly what we saw: blood flying. They could have shown a corpse, but I suspect we'll see that in October anyway. I do agree that they had at least one too many blocked roads; the unease that was building was diminished a bit. Still, this was a strong episode, even with that misstep. We got to see Rick broken in a way he hasn't been since Lori's death. With any luck, the stupid Zombie Rick phase that derailed season 3 will be truncated and they'll take advantage of the path to character growth that's opened up here. They haven't allowed him much. I'm pretty frustrated that they have this actor who is capable of so much (Lincoln is versatile as hell!) on the set every day and they don't DO anything with him but have him brood and growl.
Carol and Morgan are on the way to the Kingdom. Tigers ahead. It would be a kick if they put them together romantically before they die their heroes' deaths. I would cackle evilly, anyway [/spoilers]
A query for the comic book fans:My sister wants to know!who are the people on horses that Carol and the gentleman with the big stick joined up with?
I'd be surprised. He's too weak for the lesson to mean much. Negan has an agenda: scare the **** out of them so they'll work for him. That means taking out someone strong. If Negan did an "eeny, meenie, miney, moe" thing, which apparently he did, then Lucille could have kissed anybody. I believe it was Eugene's time to go.
