There's a teaser going around spoiler sites that it's
Aaron that bites it. I think it's just a troll looking for attention. I haven't seen any confirmation.

With that said, I'd be pretty disappointed if it was Aaron. We've been told that it's a major character, for major shock factor. Much as I like him, Aaron isn't major. I'd be relieved that all of the show favorites are safe. For now. But it's kind of a cheat.

Big cheat, and chickenshit as hell. I'll be disappointed (but not completely surprised) if that's who they go with. Right now, they're doing damage control and trying to keep interest up, so I'm not giving a lot of credence to any of the 'proof' I've seen. We'll know this fall; that's good enough for me.

I like the idea of Negan leaving it to chance, fate.

Yeah, but it'd be sloppy. He's not just offing someone for the sheer badness of it. It's a calculated move. The 'eeny-meeny-miney' routine was to instil fear, nothing more or less.
It'd be a mistake to bash the leader - s/he is a natural rallying point and insurrection follows, plus it creates a power vacuum and that's never predictable; Negan wants predictability, even if he also wants to knock some of the wind out of Rick's sails and, in turn, put a question in the minds of the less devoted/loyal.
It'd also be a mistake to bash a kid or a woman. He already has control of the group and situation. Picking a 'weak' target would only make him look like a bully and, again, breed resentment and insurrection. Of the women who were there, the only clearly beneficial target would be Michonne (because she is damn tough). You could make a case for Maggie, but she was already weakened and out of it. Rosita and Sasha...they have their moments, but when I think of tough/strong women in TWD I don't immediately think of them.
It'd also be a mistake to whack a weakling, so Eugene should be safe. Again, it'd just make Negan look like a bully, when what he really wants to do is show that it's pointless to resist as even the strongest stand no chance. That would also seem to definitely rule out Aaron, but..."fool me once, shame on you...". IIRC that only leaves Abraham and Glenn. And I don't think it was Glenn since, despite all the warnings under the sun, Maggie would have screamed or at least let out a forlorn moan/wail (on top of all the other reasons I've already mentioned).

I agree that he first time around Negan will want to make
a political statement. If it's not Rick, then it has to be either Abraham or Michonne. If it's Michonne, then it means Rick will have lost another
girlfriend. I mean, the guy is having no luck lately. If it's Abe, then the show lost its resident redhead. Not good.

I don't watch The Walking Dead so spoilers are nothing I worry about when I'm moderating. But I see you folks talking about the show, the characters, who bites it and when.... I sympathize. Believe me. I watched all the seasons of Lost.

But I do watch The People's Couch and they watched the season finale of TWD on last night's show. I get it now. I see why ya'll are so frustrated. Damn. What a way to leave you hanging!

The woods are lovely dark and deep
Nicotero discourages any wannabe couch detectives from searching for hints within the final moments of screams and muffled shouts. "You can dissect it as much as you want, but I can guarantee
there are no visual clues as to who is going."

"We are going to see Negan do some stuff in the next year or two that is not going to be very nice."

"We're now getting a sense that there are individual communities out there," Nicotero says. talking about the members of the Kingdom. "We're reinventing the show once again in a very powerful way."

Even though they will be saying foodbye to one of their own in the opening moments of next season, showrunner Scott Gimple says some light is on the horizon for Rick and his group. "It's going to start off very, very, very dark, but that won't be the whole season," Gimple reveals. "We are going to have a wide variety of locales, tone and stories that going to be told."
