Hey y'all! Time for another quick drive-by posting!;-D

Sundrop - loving the purple daisy! So sad to hear about his Royal Badness. Such a loss!
cat in a bag - how'd the eye doc go?? Does OoO look fuzzy in his avatar to you?
Kurben - sounds like you got some much needed sleep! Hoping you get back on schedule soon.

((all in need or not))
(((SKMB)))
OoO definitely looks fuzzy, he better keep running! ;)

Visit went fine. My prescription needed bumped up just a tad. Did order new glasses. And got a new medicine to try for my dry eyes. He swears by it. I trust his opinion, he has always taken excellent care of all of us. (Did I ever tell you guys about when Brandon got his first pair of contacts? He managed to pull so hard taking them out he tore holes in his corneas. Both of them! And the eye dr was right on top of his care and Brandon healed up right as rain again.) So, not a case of just trying to "sell" me something, I know he wouldn't just push stuff to push it. I am anxious to see if it works for me. Maybe I could get back into contacts myself. :)

It's great to know a doc has your (and family's) best interest at heart! Good luck on the dry eye thing and keep me posted. I am starting to suffer more from that than I used to. Stupid life in front of a computer screen!

I'm not sure what they've done in recent years but the last couple brands I tried stuck like glue to my eyes and scared the crap out of me trying to remove them as the old pinch and release trick did not work. I was really worried I wasn't going to be able to get them out and afraid I would scratch my eye even though my fingernails weren't that long so was being very careful not to pinch too hard. Not sure how I did it but finally got them out and gave up on wearing contacts. Apparently there is a trick of holding them with your finger while you're looking forward and then moving just your eye to the side so that it puts the contact on the white of your eye instead and then they're easier to pop out. Might have been a second part to those instructions but my cousin told me theres a YouTube video for it.

I always used to pull mine to the side of my eye and then pluck it out. My thyroid thing has just made my eyes too dry to wear them anymore, they are never comfortable.

Brandon was 16 when he did that to his eyes. Has not had any trouble since, though. He learned real quick after that!

I wear a scleral lens in my right eye and a hybrid lens in my left. The scleral requires a little plunger to get it out. It makes a little sloshing sound when it comes out too. The hybrid is a pincher. It has a hard lens in the middle with a hydrogel skirt. But I can finally see and wear something comfy for an entire day. I cant function without my contacts anymore. Glasses and soft contacts don't help me as I have a corneal disorder.

I don't know how you people can stick those things against your eyeballs. :umm:
I don't have much of a choice. I have keratoconus. I have a sub-type actually that is worse than the standard KC Dx. Without being able to see, my eyes constantly struggle to focus and it feels like I have something in them. My eyes would water, swell and be sore all the time. I wore RPGs for awhile in the 90's but became intolerant to them. I went without anything for years until the new hybrids came out. Since then I've been back in lenses and can function fully again. I was getting to the point I was going to have to change careers or go on disability. These are actually super comfy. One of the worst parts about my condition is my eyes are super sensitive. So wearing contacts is somewhat counter intuitive. In the end, I just had to man up and get through it to where I could wear them. Trust me, if glasses or surgery were an option, that's what I'd do.

This is a typical corneal topography map for a KC patient. Mine are similar except I have 2 cones spots in both eyes. This picture is a single cone:

The image on the left should be almost perfect rings and the one the right should be all blue and green.
