...when I worked at the Children's Home, we had taken the kids for an outing and as we drove along-we passed a vehicle with fake wood paneling on it-and one of em hollers out "woodchuck"!...and a new tradition was born...I still do it lo these many years later...
The nuns told me in parochial school if I used my body as a playground I would go blind and to hell..maybe the mind doesn't count,though..

They told me if I wanted to live with faith and joy, to keep my eye on the priest and not the alter boy.

Wicked cool thread!

On the first day of school (Kindergarten/first grade) Sister Celeste asked our mothers first name.

I answered, "Momma". I had no clue she actually had a name name.

(BTW-any adult who as a child who attended parochial school before the...1980's ....will automatically hide their hands when they see a Nun (Black habit) They don't want to get their knuckles whacked by a ruler.)

We always shouted, 'POPEYE' if you saw it first. I don't remember any violence with it though.
And yell 'SLUG BUG' if you saw a VW Beetle, along with the Beetle's color. SLUG BUG RED!!!!!!

Here the car game started out with a Vee Dub, (I think) but then somehow evolved into a Mini... and then just to "Yellow Car!"
[WHACK] <<<usually on the arm of the person sitting closest to you.
My kids also do it with the older number plate colours, black ones were worth more points and red ones even more than that.
I don't like playing that game with them anymore, they're a lot bigger than me and I never liked the 'punch' part of the game anyway.

Yes, I'm an adult  and I attended Kindergarten at Presentation of Mary in Methuen. It's a monetary inside an actual castle, with a high school and a Montessori preschool/kindergarten.
My mom was an atheist and my dad didn't really open up about faith until later, so I was never indoctrinated properly. My cousin, Miriam, went to the high school and she recounted stories about the parochial ruler many times.

We used to punch whenever we saw a car with a wood panel. Don't remember what we said. It had a good name.

Double punch cause it was rare to see on the way to the beach.
First of all, I remember the rules for punch buggy as follows: one super hard punch as long as you name the color and call no punch backs, double punch on a VW bus. I've never heard of the wood panel station wagon game but Im punching someone the next time I see one!

I used to think that everyone referred to female dogs as (can I say that here?), until my teacher asked how many pets we had. She called my mother . . .mom explained our dog show lifestyle and that I had no idea I was using a bad word.
