Awww, Neesy, you're worse than my Poppy, who used to say that once it's the 4th of July, it's all downhill from there, LOL! :watermelon:

Good Thursday, everyone! Well.....this Rhode Island girl is officially moving to Tallahassee, Florida! :waaaht:
That's exciting! Wishing you good luck with the transition!

I'm taking today off work and taking my kiddo to ride roller coasters at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. It's supposed to hit 91F today!

May the move be without incident, and may your future home bring you and yours happiness. FL is different than RI. No shoveling of snow in winter! I'll leave the summer for you to discover:smile:

I didn't do that one roller coaster in Williamsburg. Looks like it's going to plunge straight in the water. It made me think of designing one with an underwater tube that can come up again. That bridge! Lordy, so high there.

Thank you so much! I am looking so forward to leaving the winter behind. As far as the summer, yeesh, all I can say is thank goodness someone invended AC!

Best of luck with the move! When will you be leaving to head south?
Thanks, Marsha! My husband is set to start the new job at the end of July, so hopefully not too long after that. I have no idea what the timeline is going to be as far as packing, selling the house, etc. The only moves we've ever made so far in our lives were around this state, which is the size of a postage stamp.

Looks like I should change my username, maybe? :snicker:

Thank you all so much for the good wishes! :love_heart::love_heart::love_heart:

Sounds good!

You'll be a Tallahassee Lassie

Don't forget to visit Wakulla Springs state park to see the white ibis!

Sorry to mention that the days start to get shorter now - our Aboriginal Day proved to be cold and wet - I think those who did not participate watched it on TV from the comfort of their warm homes!

2017 National Aboriginal Day brings name changes, calls for statutory holiday - Regina | Globalnews.ca

There is talk of making it a Statutory Holiday - I could go for that!

We do get Canada Day on July 1st, but it would be nice to enjoy a day on June 21st in honour of all indigenous people :)

I love the roller coasters in Williamsburg! Although, it's been forever since I've been....

Okay, the second Lyme disease test came back positive, but I guess it will be okay with the doxycycline they're going to give me. Started a new part-time job this week in a preschool, and it made me realize that I belong back in the high school classroom teaching English. Now, I'm spending the next few weeks getting my stuff together to be certified in the state of New Hampshire. My son, Daniel, finally joined me from Phoenix, after spending the rest of the school year last year out there. Little Alexander is somewhat delayed cognitively, but I've been working with Easter Seals on that, and the interventions seem to help a bit. Moving forward, I'm excited to be a part of the King Kon committee, and I look forward to putting some work into that.
I'm glad I got to see Joe Hill and Rio Youers at Water Street books the other day; they are both fantastic orators. I am looking forward to seeing Mr. King and his son, Owen, in September(my tickets arrived)! There is enough good going on to counterbalance the stupid Lyme disease. I'm sitting in a parking lot at the doctor's office typing this, so I'll have a chance to look over the thread later and see how everyone else has been. I just wanted to check in.

I'm just teasing you! But yes, it has been raining here practically non-stop since April, so it seems so unfair that it's already the end of June! Many of those longer days we were supposed to enjoy were wet and gloomy.

Thank you for the info about the park and the ibis! The thing I'm looking forward to most is exploring a totally different environment. So much amazing wildlife! (I'm trying not to think about alligators, spiders, scorpions, and snakes too much :Oo: )

rainy season, Tropical Depressions, Tropical Storms, and the "H" word which I refuse to acknowledge. You'll do fine, just think of preparedness as a "wet" blizzard!
