Found the setup to the climax a bit clunky and disappointed they went the damsel in distress in routine to get there. Minor quibble but it's what keeps this movie from being a classic instead of just really good.

The setup to the climax was quite obviously cut up into the montage to shorten the film, and made for a bit of a harsh transition.
I was worried about the damsel in distress beat when I first heard about it, but I like how they kinda subverted it too by making Bev this kick-ass strong character. It's as if It made a fatal mistake kidnapping the strongest Loser, since she showed no fear after what she went through in her home situation.

Under your bed
EVERYBODY SHUT UP!

This movie freakin ROCKED.

Just got back from the sundee matinee, and I'ma tell you what, I loved this damn flick. It brought tears of joy to my eye to see this material get the treatment it deserves. Sure, there's some changes I didn't dig (they really dropped the ball with ol Patrick Hockstetter IMO), but doggone it, they captured the spirit of It. Yes they did. Chock fulla legitimate frights, some downright jaw dropping yucks. And those kids...wow, such a great little group of actors. The kid that did Eddie should get an oscar. Cracked my ass up.

Ye gods, I'm too high from this flick to write a decent review right now. I'm all a gush, getting all verklempt over here...sniff...talk amongst yer selves for a second...

Ahem. Anyway, HELL YEAH, folks. Guess what? We got one. Yep, we finally got one. Finally choked up on that ol ash handle and Knocked It outta the Park. CANNOT wait for Chapter Two. Gimme gimme.

And yeah, someone (or some Thing) tied red balloons to all our car antennas in the theatre parking lot. I still got mine...gonna leave it there forever.

Movie freakin Rocked, cats. We got one.

Nuff said.

Wilmington DE, strange little place.
i like real spoilers please, I understand a lot of what was left out' but how much
was CHANGED. i know that have to change stuff because its the 80s instead of the 50s
so theres not gonna be A Wolfman or mummy and such . they have to change the 'fears' of the children
what else did they change .leaving out any ref' to a cosmic turtle and multi universal-evils
amounts to a 'change' IMO .
... i was thinking id be all right with what ever they changed... but now im sure.
Under the Dome was goood... but i couldnt watch it.
I tried... no dice.

i really wanna like this movie. please detail any and all changes here, PLEASE

it would really take all day to detail the changes. especially when you start talking details instead of just the major ones. the important thing is they got the spirit right. events are always subject to change in adaptations.

I really like the fact that the producers didn't throw in a bunch of 'Easter eggs' to other King works and let this film stand on it's own two feet. I don't remember seeing any Easter eggs at all. Another observation- with all of the scary things happening in our world today such as politics, the hurricane, the threat from North Korea this movie is going to be the perfect way for folks to deal with their internal fears. Stephen King says we all read horror novels to deal with the everyday fears we all have and the same thing can be said of horror movies and It will be able to take us away from what's happening in real life and deal with it on a subconscious level. It only needs to double its box office take so far to become the biggest horror film of all time and I think it'll do this by the end of the week. *fingers crossed*

i saw a couple potential ones mentioned, that i didn't personally spot. mostly though, any easter eggs were just nods to the novel itself, and not the wider universe.

Hey, nice to meet you Tiny. Welcome to the Forum. I'd like to respectfully suggest we stay away from discussing too many details until the other week or so. Yes, I know we've got the spoiler tag thing, but there are many of us who would love to join in the discussion yet have to wait a while before seeing the film (because we live outside the US). Not trying to be a square or anything, but I am as much interested in discussing with you what you didn't like as well as the other folks who clearly love the movie.

I hope you don't mind this post; not trying to be disrespectful of your enthusiasm or anything.

In all fairness, this thread is marked spoilers, so stay away until you can get to see it. I hope it gets to you soon, it is such a a great movie!

I know you're sad. But it will be so worth it when you can come give us your observations, good or bad. It's like recitador perfectly states above: They got the spirit right.

Nah, I'm just kidding. Spoilers actually don't bother me (that's why I don't freak out over Game of Thrones - I watch the whole darn thing long after the season is done and people have spilled their guts online), but I know there might be some who don't want to discuss the merits of specific plot points until they've seen the film themselves. Of course, they shouldn't be on this thread in the first place... ;-D

Your post above for some reason reminded me of this hilarious little incident a few years back. A buddy and I were going to hang out and as we're leaving his house, his wife tells us "Have a nice time." He turns around and says "Don't tell me what to do." I nearly frikking passed out from laughing. The wife...not so much.
