Do you change shoes often? My son had something like that and our doc called it "Utah feet" :) He's from MI and hadn't seen it anywhere else. Anyway, he told Josh to keep his feet dry, change socks whenever they felt sweaty, and change out his shoes at least daily so they have time to thoroughly dry between wearings. That did the trick. Doc said it wasn't fungal for Josh, but had something to do with having sensitive skin and sweaty feet.
I don't like to be barefoot so I am wearing shoes most of the time, I never heard of Utah feet. I do think the big issue is that I sweat a lot through my feet, I've even tried antiperspirant on my feet but it was so uncomfortable I couldn't keep doing that. I could try wearing multiple pairs of shoes throughout the day, it's worth a shot!

...couple of things Bob....have you had your thyroid checked, or do thyroid issues run in your family?-this can contribute to your foot issue...try baby lotion on your feet for moisturizing, and sweat is the only way the feet get moisture, they have no oil glands like the rest of your body...keep the foot hygiene going-you are correct in keeping the nails trimmed as they are the prime bacteria catchers and a little foot powder will help belay the sweating without overdrying....could also be the chemicals in your water that is causing the excessive drying....yellowing nails?....that IS probably genetic, and only an oral anti-fungal like Lamisil will help get them straightened around.....also found this stuff below for you as well...
Common Home Remedies for Dry Feet
Here are some common home remedies to help you with your condition. Consult with your doctor about any home remedy before trying it:

  • Soak your feet in lemon juice for approximately ten minutes. Lemon juice is a mild acid that helps to dissolve dead and dry skin for easy removal. Use a loofah or soft foot brush to scrub your feet after you’re done soaking them. You may want to wait until any cuts or trauma have healed before trying this.
  • Combine a spoonful of olive oil and a few drops of lemon or lavender oil to create a moisturizing cracked-heel cream. Shake the ingredients until they form a thick, milky solution and use when needed. Shake before each use.
  • Apply vegetable oil to your feet after bathing, especially in the area of the cracks. After application, wear thick socks. Try doing this at night before bed and wearing your socks to bed. You should see results within a few days.
  • Combine one teaspoon of Vaseline and juice from one whole lemon. Wash your feet and pat them dry before applying. Apply to the dry areas and heels of your feet until you’ve used the entire batch. You should do this just before bed and wear wool socks to lock in the moisture. The wool will also prevent your sheets from becoming stained. The oils in the mixture will soften the dry areas. Exfoliate in the morning. Do this as recommended by your doctor.

My son is the same way--shoes from practically the minute he gets up until bedtime. Frequent shoe and sock changes worked for him (he doesn't change during the day, but never wears the same pair two days in a row). Scott is the man on med stuff here--I'd take a look at his post as well. I learned something (will pass on to my son that he might want to get his thyroid checked--thanks, GNTLGNT )

Because, like Sally Field, they want to know that you really really like them. Or, the board is questioning your judgement.
I just liked your post, and it happened automatically, like usual. Your computer is possessed.
What's weird is it only happened on the previous page! It didn't happen just now as I 'liked' your posts. Effing Fornets!!!!

Probably not apropos of much here, but I noticed a young lady's hands and mused that she could be a hand model. Long, slender, exquisite fingers, lovely elongated nails. She laughed and said, yeah, she'd heard that before - but not a foot model. The same bio-characteristics that make fingers long and slender tend to do the same thing with toes, and in her humor-filled words, "Not a lot of modeling out there for monkey toes."

I have another announcement of grave importance.

It's that time of year again when those ugly things come back into our collective consciousness.

PEEPS.

I beg you on all things holy, please DO NOT force a Peep upon another living creature.

Thank you
Blasphemy! Seems you’re not a peep-le person.

I come from PEEPS country. Once even lived about a mile from their factory. We even have PEEPSFEST on New Year’s Eve, around here.

DJ... It’s Easter, for Peep’s sake! My god woman... think of the children!
