Frank Muller was the BEST audiobook reader. Unfortunately, he's also dead, so I don't think he'd be a good choice for Roland.

James Earl Jones has blue eyes! :)

Someone on another board suggested Jim Caviezel for Roland. He's perfect. How do we petition the studio? :) I adore Idris Elba, and I think he brings his "A" game to any role. But there are actors who are also good, who look the part as described in the book. I'm sure Caviezel could use the...

    RIP Rocky Wood

I was saddened to hear the news today, and now I'll never get the chance to meet Rocky. He was always the voice of reasonable authority in the Horror Writers Association, a friend to animals, and truly one of the good guys. RIP, Rocky Wood.

    BTK's daughter criticizes SK

Thanks, Dana Jean. That said...No one knows what anyone else is thinking. Why is she coming out now, and not when the story came out in Full Dark, No Stars? My guess is a) she didn't know that the story was about Rader, if she read it at all. And b) all of the advance press mentions Rader, so...

    Writing Hobbyists

Here's a good article on "Good Writing Vs. Talented Writing" that articulates what a lot of people are trying to say. Good Writing vs. Talented Writing | Brain Pickings The question about improving your writing seems to have been lost somewhere along the way, or maybe I missed something in my...

    BTK's daughter criticizes SK

Hi. I wasn't sure where to post this, but it's a very good article about the daughter of the "BTK" killer (Dennis Rader)'s daughter. She thinks the movie is exploiting her family and those of the victims. BTK's daughter: Stephen King 'exploiting my father's 10 victims and their...

Something that always bugged me about The Shining

During the interview in the prologue (which, by the way, is BRILLIANT--just about everything that later becomes a plot point is introduced in such a subtle way), Ullman says something to Jack that's been at the back of my mind since I re-read the book just before Doctor Sleep came out. He says...

    Your Other Favorite Authors

I believe Emma Donoghue lives in Canada, or did when she was writing ROOM. She may have moved to the US since then.

    Your Other Favorite Authors

I recently read The Girl Next Door, by Jack Ketchum. Good book, but extremely disturbing. My other favourite novels are The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison, and The Diviners, by Margaret Laurence. And another wonderful novel is ROOM by Emma Donoghue.

    Read A Lot--write A Lot

This was a great book. I love how the "freaks" were shown as a normal family, and they were all so manipulative. No "inspirationally disabled" here!

    A mistake

So what I get from this whole conversation is that you'd be satisfied with the addition of "Old" in front of "French" in Mr. King's sentence...I'm sure the publishers will get right on that! :)

    Mr King has some competition!

Oh, and ps--I also just got a story accepted to Fox Spirit (UK publisher)'s Drag Noir anthology, and received my contributor's copy of Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing's Long Distance Drunks: A Tribute to Charles Bukowski with my story in it. And my story "Womb Envy" is up over on the e-zine...

    Mr King has some competition!

Thanks, booklover72! :) The editor, Alex S. Johnson, and his partner, Charie De La Marr. have been promoting it on every channel they can. Over on the Horror Writers' Association Facebook page, we discuss the merits of writing when you're not likely to see much money from it, if any. (My goal...
