I was saddened to hear the news today, and now I'll never get the chance to meet Rocky. He was always the voice of reasonable authority in the Horror Writers Association, a friend to animals, and truly one of the good guys. RIP, Rocky Wood.

I believe Emma Donoghue lives in Canada, or did when she was writing ROOM. She may have moved to the US since then.

I recently read The Girl Next Door, by Jack Ketchum. Good book, but extremely disturbing. My other favourite novels are The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison, and The Diviners, by Margaret Laurence. And another wonderful novel is ROOM by Emma Donoghue.

This was a great book. I love how the "freaks" were shown as a normal family, and they were all so manipulative. No "inspirationally disabled" here!

So what I get from this whole conversation is that you'd be satisfied with the addition of "Old" in front of "French" in Mr. King's sentence...I'm sure the publishers will get right on that! :)
