I'm reading Neil Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors. As always it's a pure pleasure to read his work. Well, to get to the point. One of the stories is a 100 word short Christmas story, 102 counting the title, Nicholas Was.
I got to thinking that it might be fun to try doing that, lo and behold it was. I thought you all might want to take a crack at it too.
Here's mine. It's corny but hey, who cares? It's just a bit of fun.

Christmas Mice

Inside the walls were warm near the fireplace, so they lived right there. It was safe, no traps in sight and the only cat in the house was at least 100 years old, too old to give chase.
There was plenty to eat, especially this morning. The stocking they found fit nicely through the hole that was their front door.
The seeds, nuts and bits of toast inside were a perfect breakfast and the bits of cotton wool made a nice new bed for them all to rest in. It was a good day to be a mouse.

The carolers were late. Wiping the cold glass with a fist he saw his frozen driveway lit only by blue Christmas lights that blinked from his porch.
Dead weeds poked through yesterday's snow like winter wheat. It was so still that blackbirds could be heard quivering in the dark. The sound of dead, frozen limbs falling from miles away reached his ears. The crack of a brisk knock brought him from his reverie. Did he really feel like singing? He opened the door and saw his son dressed in the clothes in which he was buried.

Santa Claus didn't like how one of his elves was making out with that grumpy fart down the road. So Santa, with a whiskey bottle in hand--and after a grueling Christmas schedule behind him-- walked down the road to confront her. 'Hey, you, Dorothy, if you don't stop messing with my elf, I'm going to make a complaint to Saint Nicholas.'
Santa heard the door latch open, and the screen door swung out, and Dorothy stepped onto the porch dressed only in a pink tutu. Santa dropped his bottle.

An elderly lady's dreams brought visions of falling snowflakes. The night was tranquil as they fell to the ground. An eerie silence surrounded her dream. Through sleep filled eyes she watched the snow fall until it covered the ground, forming a pristine white winter blanket. She wondered how it would feel to walk in the snow. She could almost feel the softness of this winter blanket under her feet. She placed her feet upon the cushoning snow. The silence was broken as she heard the crunch under her feet. But this feeling was not cushiony nor soft. Startled, she awoke only to find herself walking in cat litter.

Directions... I don’t need no stinking directions. Assembling the kid’s big gift and nothing matches up. I watch the clock, ticking down at breakneck speed. Hoping to finish before the kids come down the stairs, one wide-eyed and the other frazzled from being woken up far too early, to see that Santa has left them. Whoever said a watched clock never tells the time obviously hasn’t waited until Christmas Eve to assemble a gift with hundreds of pieces. Take it apart and start again... I can function on one hour of sleep. And don’t forget about the milk and cookies.

The old, old man did not realize he was smiling beneath his beard as he clomped to his favorite chair and settled in. It had been a long night, and would be a short year. Older is wiser, or so it's said, but magic never gets easier. The woman shuffled in from the kitchen, placed his toddy on the little table and helped him off with his boots. So that was alright.

"Home again," she clucked, and he laughed a laugh you would not recognize. Not the one you've heard tell about.

"Yes, love. Home again. For a while."

And that is all we need know of that.

...Finally! Christmas Eve and all manner of dollar store gift wrap had been sacrificed to the God of Christmas Presents, the Ham was taking a hot bath in the oven and I finally had the house to myself-all the rest of the crew were in candy besotted dreams....as I sat on the steps, getting a tan from the glow of hundreds of tree lights-I heard a sound from the out of doors, under the coldly warm light of a single star-I heard a murmur of thousands of voices praying for peace from the Prince thereof....

The eve shrugs around the corner, just out of sight; see, a glimpse of warmth fade into night. Cleanse the hearth and copper kettles, for soup is on ... come hear the tale of Twelfth Night.
