We had one of those once, it was an awful vile thing. If we tried that our arms would be cut to ribbons. It would only let my Mum reach in its cage to change its water or food - me or my Brothers would even try it, and when my Dad did all you could hear was "ow, you horrible yellow b*st*rd".

That bird on my arm is either Buddy (the mother of our hand raised bird) or else Max - the actual hand raised one.

Our mating pair had four eggs but did not know how to care for them. I watched three of them die and then finally took the last one out of the breeding box and hand raised him. He could talk and would fly to me from across the room. He also whistled tunes that I taught him.

Sorry you had a bad experience - some birds can be vicious and bite you if not tamed when young.

Are maybe a nice crow or raven? They are quite clever and like to imitate sounds.


After watching this video I am pretty sure that bird up at the top there (on top of the message board, sitting on the letters) is actually a crow, not a raven!

What's with me and birds? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them - that's all! (Yeah, I know, some people find them scary) - shoulda been an ornithologist I guess!

This is my son Josh with our two birds - Coco and Buddy - from these came our hand raised cockatiel Max.

Yeah, he did a decent job, but he was a bit too perfect looking, Nick was meant to be a straggly wanderer, I pictured him as skinny and scruffy - Rob Lowe was a handsome mush with perfect hair (for the mid 90's anyway).

I can very vaguely remember 2 very strange fantasy films from the 80s:
The Never Ending Story

The Labyrinth (starring David Bowie)

Unfortunately, I couldn't even begin to remember what they were about, I don't think I even knew when I first saw them.

Sigh...I wish I'd thought to bring a camera along during my adventures in the 80s. I can't find any pictures of my rooster bangs - except for the ones in the year book, or I'd share too. We really didn't take pictures. The cell phone youth has us beat on that for sure. Of course, no incriminating evidence lingers either...
