I love Phantasm. Every year, I try to find this one to watch, and every year I fail.26. Phantasm
Two brothers investigate a mysterious mortuary where the bodies are disappearing, and clash with the Tall Man (and his minions) who's behind it all. Proof that a small independent film with a low budget can still become a horror classic. I love the strangeness of this movie, the unpredictability, and the way that the plot just keeps moving ahead. Yeah, it's pretty dated, but this was 1979 so give it some leeway. So many iconic moments, especially the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), the weaponized silver ball that is never explained (at least in this first installment), and of course that crazy scene near the end in that white room. This is becoming one of my most re-watched horror films of all time, and it's always a treat to introduce it to someone who has never seen it before. Bob says check it out!
5 out of 5 stars.
