A homeschooling friend of mine tagged me on Facebook with this link, and just said, "Jen! Nouns!"
This BANNED Grey Poupon Ad Is Freaking Hilarious – What Were They Thinking?! | PetFlow Blog - The most interesting news for pet parents around the world.
This is because I'm (im)famous for teaching the kids that a noun is "anything you can poop on." We were doing some MadLibs, and not everyone was getting the whole "person, place or thing," definition when we needed a noun. So I made up the new memory aid, and EVERYONE remembers what a noun is, including all the other Moms! :-o
Luckily no one was mad...
The other great thing was trying to describe adverbs. I told them an adverb is a word that word that modifies a verb and usually ends in -ly. They're tricky anyway, and I still don't have an awesome poop-involved memory aid for it. So instead of getting answers like "quickly" or "crisply," the kids were giving me stuff like "ugly" and even "ukulele." Kids are awesome!
