So at the cardiologist's today, he said I'm doing fine, but it would be nice to fine-tune things, and I agreed to cut alcohol down to four ounces of wine a day, max. Sigh.

Unknown to him: I'll start Sunday. Got a lunch planned with a friend and margaritas on Friday and a family birthday party on Saturday.

Good-bye, yeast poop, mostly, for a while as of Sunday. I'll miss you.

I'm mostly a beer guy but I do like vodka and grapefruit juice, especially when made with our very own freshly picked ruby red grapefruits.
Mercy how I love vodka and grapefruit juice, I can only imagine having my very own freshly picked ruby reds. You must live in paradise.

No Mas Tequila for SwiftDog.

I lost about a 10 hour window of time in Las Vegas to that stuff. I'm still amazed I made it back to my hotel room with money in my pocket!
Ah, another victim. I ruined my relationship with tequila on my 21st birthday - I lost a whole day and spent another 3 in bed. I think kingricefan has an aversion to it as well. Once you've been ruined by it, you can't tolerate it. I spent 3 days wishing I could puke. I felt my optic nerve for days. No Mas Tequila for Holly either. Ever, ever, ever never ever. We'll have to share our tequila stories sometime.

 "yeast poop".

I'm bummed for you. Can you cut something else like sugar? Does it have to be the wine? I thought wine was good for the heart.

Well, that's the four ounces thing. He said that wine, indeed, was good for the heart, but past four or six ounces, the benefit was gone. Alcohol increases blood pressure and raises triglycerides, not to mention its caloric intensity. And I eat very little sugar as it is. Not in my coffee, not in my iced tea, not on my cereal, no sugared soft drinks - or, really, soft drinks of any kind. So there's really not much to cut back there.

If he'd said no more cheese, I would've had to throw myself out the window. Now, we were in an exam room on the first floor, so it wouldn't have done much, but still. Gotta have my cheese.

Well darn - 1 glass will do it what I need it to usually. I agree about the cheese. I love cheese.

I like craft beer (and homebrew). In particular, I like IPAs, and stouts. I also like whiskey. In particular, Bulleit Bourbon, and their Rye.

My favorite beer before I became allergic to beer was Guinness Extra Stout. Now I enjoy Johnnie Walker Red Label scotch, 1800 tequila, and shot of Irish Mist or a Jägerbomb on occasion.
Nooo... not the red label! xD The The black label is actually decent. :cool2:

That's a terrible allergy. I must be allergic to light beer - it makes me get a disgusted look on my face if I have to drink one. :barf:

I hate that horrible moment when someone offers me a beer and I accept and they hand me a light beer. Then I have to be nice and drink it. :barf:

I must have the same allergy.

I lost enough brain cells to alcohol in my youth

I didn't have many to begin with...

Which reminds me. Another reason to give up alcohol for a little while. The variety of single-malts is really my favorite, and they're just flat pricing me out. Ten years ago, the Lagavulin 16 that was close to my favorite was going for $60, which was bad enough, but acceptable for a special occasion. Now it's $110, which takes it off the price-benefit curve entirely.

Don’t do it Grandpa! It’s not a pretty place floating down here in the deep dark depths of Old Smuggler blended scotch.
