When my first was born, someone gave him a white teddy bear. Each paw was a different colour. First time he crawled, was to reach that bear. Slept with it every night. Told it his troubles whenever he was upset. My dad had named it Honey Bear. When I was pregnant with my second, we took our son out shopping to pick out an outfit for baby to come home from hospital. (He picked a smurf sleeper.) and as we were leaving the store, he saw a tan coloured teddy, with each paw a different colour. So he picked it up and started walking. He had found "babies Honey Bear". Baby never really took to that bear.

When my oldest left home he took Honey bear with him.

When his wife got pregnant, we searched high and low...could never find a Honey Bear for him.

Not that I don't think they're precious, but none of us ever had a teddy bear either. My oldest girl had a kitty, my youngest had a duckie, and my son had me - seriously, that boy was like velcro to
me for 2 years. I had this thing when I was a kid:

who gives that to a kid? but I loved him and took him everywhere with me. No wonder I was so afraid of the dark .

I got Fluffy #1 as an infant and took him everywhere. At age 3 I lost him!:(

Luckily Santa found Fluffy #2 for me! :DHe stays in my daughter's room now but when I am feeling bad , she brings Fluffy to visit me.

I on my phone today but I will try to find a pic later. I even did a pic with him and me in my wedding dress!

I went looking on-line because Andy brought a Steiff bear over from Scotland.

It is a 100th anniversary one (1902 - 2002), in a drawstring bag. Its name is Monaco. He is made of mohair and it says on the tag "limited edition teddy bear made of the finest blond mohair".

It is the kind with the button in the ear (I think they all have those). As a dumb Canadian this is not a part of my heritage, but it is a cute little guy anyway. I like the fact that the arms and legs are jointed and can be posed.

Who knows? Maybe some day I will be lucky enough to be a Grandma!

I may have had that monkey. Or maybe my niece did.

I will try to find a picture of my favourite when I was a kid. Not a bear, not a monkey. It was a....no. I'll keep you waiting.

Apparently I do not have a copy of the picture. How disappointing.

The only stuffed animal I remember ever playing with was a fox. But, it was a real fox that had been stuffed. I remember being told that someone (I think it was my uncle) was just learning taxidermy, and this fox was one of the first animals he stuffed. Apparently when he brought it to our house I started dragging it around and let it be known it was mine.

I did not sleep with it, but played with it a lot. My niece was born when I was 9, and there is a picture of her & I with the fox when she about a year old. Other kids, and most adults, were freaked by this thing...but she and I loved it.

So AnnaMarie - what DOES the fox say?
