Am I bad for liking this movie?

At the time it was done CGI was still a fairly new thing and I didn't perceive the effects as cheesy, after all, not everyone can get Industrial Light and Magic on board for their film projects, and it was true to the story, not wandering off in various directions that have nothing to do with what was written on the page... not that differences can't be inspired, but, The Shining notwithstanding, I like adaptions to be as faithful to the original story as possible..

(holy sheep that was a single sentence!)

Yes you are bad - go directly to your room and no supper for you!

Haha - you know I am just pulling your leg @Ebdim9th
I have only read the book and not seen the movie, so I don't know. I wonder if The Langoliers is available on Youtube now? :tennis:

It might be, but ever since Google bought out BlogSpot, that was the last straw for me.. any time I don't have to deal with Google I'm not going to...

  5. I don't remember...

Were the langoliers traveling through different parallel worlds? Was there a chance they might come to our space/time?

I like the movie too. Some of the casting was a bit iffy, but I watch it almost every year if I catch it in the TV listings as the story line is great. The problem I have with the movies made from King’s writings, is that I read some of the novels so very long ago that the movie becomes the psyche over the written work.

I guess I'm bad too. I liked it well enough for the time period. It would be a great story for a re-make, I think.

I liked it. I don't really mind when effects look dated. Almost all the old black and white movies were shot on stages and it is obvious. There is a bit of a charming quality about dated effects.

I liked it. Toomey was pretty much how i'd pictured him in the book.

Nah. It was okay for a TV movie--at least it stuck to the story fairly well. Some of the acting was... not too great... (being nice today--lol), but it worked all in all. My husband (a non- SK reader) liked it a lot & has watched it several times.

I liked it right off. I saw it ages ago before I was an sK fan. The strangeness of the story is what appealed to me, the unique horror idea it represented.

I liked it too, I think because it followed the book so well.

Although it missed that part in the story about there being a ghost on the airplane but no-one ever saw it...

Yep, go back and reread it and you'll see the mention of a ghost having been seen aboard the plane in prior trips. although not on that one...
