I was wondering if members here owned kindles and if they could answer some questions about kindles.

Is it mandatory to need a kindle account subscription? Is the subscription monthly or yearly?

I noticed kindle books are less expensive then other e readers; but is there a recurring subscription fee.

I have a nook, the e books cost more then kindle but there is not a subscription account and fee for the nook.

Have an original Kindle and a Kindle Fire HD. No subscription needed. Do not have the Unlimited. There are tons of FREE ebooks, and daily deals - usually 99 cents/ $1.99/ sometimes $2.99. SK books are sometimes offered as a special- ck it daily.

Many ebook prices are set by the publisher, so are not as low as others.

I re checked and compared prices to my nook. the prices are mostly the same; what I thought was lower prices were individual short stories or chapters of comic books, instead the whole collection. sorry for the confusion. there are small ($1-$3) price differences on some books, but mostly the prices are the same.

Have a kindle app. No subscription needed. A lot of books free, especially classics. Many cheap priced. My bookshelfes are rather full so use it moderately to get some books and also to build up a traveling library. Always run out of things to read when travelling so its a good way to have books with you.
