Anyone order SK from Thriftbooks? Question regarding that site...

I can't remember which member of the board always recommends ordering from thriftbooks- I think kingricefan or skimom2... Anyway, my birthday is around the corner and I've been scanning through the site for SK hardcovers that I'm missing.

I've heard the site is reliable with shipping and very inexpensive. My question is will I get the dust jackets with the books I order? There is no notation regarding this on the site. I mean... they have some of the harder to find SK hardcovers listed.
I'm looking at Cujo, Blockade Billy, Mr. Mercedes(maybe), Danse Macabre, Misery, and Pet Semetary(the Doubleday reprint with the black and white cover).

I know this is a used book site, so condition is a toss-up, but really if I get these books without the jackets, I'll still be searching copies out JUST for the jackets.
I'm trying to avoid spending shipping costs for each individual book, I'm good with spending $40 or even $50 on some books that are hard to find. Using other sites gets expensive. Thanks in advance.

It's kingricefan who always recommends it! :)
There are two symbols to watch for - one is "book is missing dust jacket" (it's a blue symbol I think) and the other is "ex-library copy" symbol (green). They are usually pretty good about listing appropriate book conditions, but they don't package the books in bubble mailers or anything, so they can be damaged during shipping as well. They do offer free shipping on purchases over $10 and keep track of your purchases. When you've reached $50 they email you a $5 coupon (you just have to sign up for their Reading Rewards program).

Well, none of the 'tags' showed up in my alerts, so I am now just seeing this thread. Yes, I'm the member who has told others about this place. I have purchased from them extensively and have had very good luck with them. As Morgan stated, they only use plastic bags for shipping, so there's always a chance that the book may be damaged a tad while being shipped. If you're not too particular about a 'bumped' corner on a book, then I say go for it and order away! Be sure to check for the icons that show whether it is an ex-library copy or if it's missing the dust jacket. I just checked the site for a few titles and it looks like they've stopped using the icons showing if the book is missing the dj or an ex-library. That sucks. I wouldn't order the 'acceptable' titles then as these are usually not in the best of condition. Try for a 'good' or 'very good' status. I have been able to even add some signed/numbered titles to my collection (such as a few Joe Lansdale books) and have even been able to buy unread mint hardbacks here (such as Justin Cronin's 1st book and a couple of other authors) for cheap. There's been two times when the book arrived that I discovered it was a book club edition and there's no way of knowing if it will be until it arrives. But, when you spend around $4-5 on a book (with free shipping on orders over $10!) it's worth the crap shoot. It's a rather cheap way to build up a collection. Please mention my name (kingricefan) if they ask for it! Good luck!

If you're in the US (international shipping is deadly expensive, cry pardon), I have a very nice Pet Sematery (jacket and all) that you can have :) I have quite a few others, too--off the top of my head, I know I have a The Wind Through The Keyhole, a Night Shift, an Eyes of the Dragon...I think there are probably others that I'm forgetting, too. Just let me know :)

Hey kingricefan - do you know how to determine a Koontz first edition? I can't seem to find the right info online. The numbers on the copyright page are 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1.
If the #1 is present on the number line, then it's a 1st printing. If the # line starts with a #2, then it's gone into a 2nd printing, etc.
