Jake is a stupid nickname for Jacob. I hate nothing more than being referred to as a “Jake”. This isn’t an attack on fellow Jacobs who prefer the name “Jake”, just slandering the idea.
(Please don’t refer to me by my real name now that you know it)

Jake is a great name!

Holly and the Crickets are good but I think Chuck Berry and Little Richard had more staying power. We were going to see the Buddy Holly museum when we were in Lubbock two years ago but it was closed.

Buddy was a triple threat. He could write his own stuff, was an excellent musician, and a studio whiz / geek as well. He's really the first to do that in the rock / pop music world.

Chuck Berry is the godfather of rock guitar. Everyone (including me) rips off his riffs from time to time. However, Chuck was not the triple threat Buddy was.

Agreed, they are annoying and all their music sounds the same.

The Edge is arguably the last guitar player to have developed their own innovative style. The Edge is a "colorist" as opposed to a shredder. What do I mean by that? The Edge paints intricate soundscapes within the framework of the song. That makes him a colorist. Eddie Van Halen is a fretboard acrobat adept at very fast riff / scale based musical gymnastics. Killer rhythm player as well. That classifies EVH as a shredder. Different approaches but equally awesome.

I do agree that the majority of U2's post Achtung Baby catalog is poop, though. Zooropa and Pop make me want to stick a pencil through my eardrum.

SwiftDog Fact- The very first concert I went to was a U2 show. It was their Joshua Tree tour. SwiftSis took me. Big props to SwiftSis for putting up with my SwiftPup antics in my formative years!

Reason #5008 why I don't write. Every subject on which an author can or does write, even in Fantasy, is some grounds for offense these days, maybe a lot of offense by a lot of people. Before the internet, authors need only worry about reviewers and occasional letters, not the full wrath of civilization. If you write only about white westernized characters, you are Eurocentric, if you write about any other race, creed, or culture, it's either prejudice or cultural appropriation, when cultural differences and influences have been going on as long as there have been cultures.

If anyone knows of a nice politically incorrect publisher which would be interested in stories taking place say 150-170 years ago which may or may not involve disputes between people of different races or cultures, which would have been fine 55 years ago or longer, let me know, I may possibly have something of interest to them. Thank you.

. The whole point, in my opinion, is for a writer to provoke, and if that means to offend, so be it. That's why half the published stuff these days is junk, because it is politically correct drivel written to appease some notion of what they want published these days.

I have edited your response to keep it out of hot topic territory.

I understand the majority of members that come on SKMB are either:relatives of King; friends of KIng; other writers; employees of KIng. But does that mean that you have to hurt my feelings? I was hurt yesterday when nobody 'Liked' anything I said and when I came on here today, half the members logged-off. I'm not paranoid, but I think there's a conspiracy to make me feel uncomfortable. We all live on planer Earth and have to all get along, and try to be nice to each other. NOT to hurt another person's feelings.

I'm sorry if your feelings are hurt.

And honestly, I think most of the people who come here are just regular people like us. Just fans. People come and go on the board all day long. They have to make lunch, or go to work, or walk their dogs -- just regular every day life stuff. You might come on when people are going to bed in another time zone. So, just know it's not anything against you. It's just people being people and meeting the demands of their lives at any given moment.

Okay, thanks for that. I was getting worried there was a vendetta against me for some comments I made regarding KIng. I thought it was like the McCarthy blacklist back in the 1950's.

Like Dana Jean said, we get busy with life. Myself- I hop on and off the MB during the day. A little extra early in the day, when chores are completed I can pay again. Some night TV show takes me away/ other times I can be here at night. The international members- I am amazed at how they stay up late into wee hours of their time to be here during USA day hours. Just relax and enjoy.

Not if walking down the street requires I put up with “good dogs” the owners think “listen” and therefore don’t put on leashes.

I’m a dog owner and I agree that all dogs should be on leash at all times when out in public. For their safety as well as everyone else’s. BrodyDog is always on leash when out walking.
