I'm NOT.
I'm a teacher, and we get a two-week break for Christmas. I have been sleeping in until 10 or 11 because I stay up until 2 or 3. I am so much happier being up at night; I hate getting up at 5:30 A.M.to get ready for work. We go back Monday, and I am so dreading that 5-day week, because I am in this habit of sleeping in. I will be falling asleep during the science experiments!
I don't drink coffee because the caffeine (or lack of it when I don't have it) gives me massive headaches. Someone tell me how to be a morning person, please; before Monday.

I'm definitely not a morning person, either, have always tended toward night owl. I don't think a person who isn't a morning person can become one without dying and coming back as one. (I don't recommend that you see if that works.) I once heard that someone having a hard time getting up at a certain time can try setting the alarm 15min earlier. Biorhythms sometimes make that much difference.

Every morning, at 5:30, I feel like I have died, but that I did not come back as a morning person!
15 minutes EARLIER? Brah, have you no compassion? Have you no mercy? It takes me 35-40 minutes to get to work; I set my alarm for 5:59. (Usually I wake up earlier and go ahead and get up.) But if I get up at 5:59, I leave home at 6:50 and have to be at work by 7:30. So I'm driving 80 mph and still not awake. Guess I should've been a night worker of some sort.

It's why I work graveyards now. My shift of choice is 3-11p, but in my field those are very rare. I just despise having to get up early in the morning for work. I even hate having to get up at night for this job. I just like to sleep.

...working 10P to 6A as I do...my morning comes at like 5:30pm, but even when I'm home and sleep a "normal" 6-8 hours, I'm up early...doesn't make me a morning person-just one that has worked so many frickin' different shifts over the years-that my circadian rhythms are more like a zombie lurch...and Danie my sweet?...there is no cure for your dilemma...you either is or you ain't....but I would suggest some beverages with B-12, just be aware of the percentage of same...this in lieu of coffee...

Yeah, I am. I got the farmers' genes, I guess. I woke up this morning, unalarmed, about 6:15. I was surprised that it was past 6:00. I must've been tired.

Grandma, on the other hand, is not. She's been working at a place that has her shift starting at 6 am several days a week, which means the alarms start going off at 5:00. She's never gotten used to it, and it's a killer for her, because she can't go to bed early. So she doesn't have to go to work today, and here it is, 7:30 our time zone, and she's still sleeping heavily, and I expect her to go till 9:00 or so.

Caffeine doesn't work for me one way or the other. I can take coffee or leave it, although I do really enjoy the taste. I can drink a cup of coffee before going to bed and get to sleep just fine. So Danie, I dunno how to tell you to be a morning person. I think it'd be easier to get the school authorities to change the working hours.

Same here. I'm a morning person by necessity but I worked afternoon shift for years, 2pm-12am. Even after several years back on days, all I need is a three day weekend and I go back to sleeping until 8 or 9am then staying up until 3-4am. I like that time of night mainly because my family is asleep and it's the only time it's relatively quiet around our house...lol

Not a night person but have problems getting up in the winter due to lack of daylight and it's around 7-ish this time of year before that kicks in. I feel like I've overslept if I wake up after 7:30 even on the weekend. In the summer I'm usually up at the 5 AM time but in bed between 10 and 11. I'm one of those who needs the light to function well.

I hate to wake up, no matter what time it is. I don't wake up happy and need at least 10 to 15 minutes of no one talking to me so I can function. My husband is one of those annoying people who, even if woken up in the middle of the night, sounds like an awake human being. I am not. Don't try to talk to me and expect me to answer until my brain is fully awake. Once I get going though, I am fine.

I set my alarm for 5am. Sometimes I get up when it goes off and sometimes I turn it off and close my eyes again. I get up this early to try and get some exercise in and let the dog out. On weekends, I have a rule that Mommy sleeps til 7 if you want her to be happy for the rest of the day. Most of the time, this rule is observed.;;D

((Danie)) Good luck on Monday.

My wife and I have a rule, we're not responsible for anything said to one another within the first 15 minutes after waking up. We can both be somewhat pissy rolling out of bed at 0500 every day...lol

Ha! Cool! The good thing is, you are both that way. So less likely one of you is going to wake up and start talking to the other one expecting a reply.

I used to be a morning person (big time!) and I think I still am, but it sometimes is harder to get going now and I think this is simply due to the aging process.

BTW blunthead - Moderator will probably answer your question but I have heard that word used. Overslept to me means you just slept a bit too long and wake up sort of groggy.

I call sleeping late on weekends "sleeping in" and Andy calls it "having a lie-in", so maybe the word 'overslept' is a term only used up here.
What do they call that in Georgia?
