Fine. I'm tired anyway.

All kidding aside, I sometimes think that what this life really is all about is throwing obstacles at you for enough years that -- if you're lucky enough to reach that point -- you finally realize that lying down for the last time might not be so bad after all.

I guess that sounds pretty pessimistic . . . but there it is.

Nope. I understand that. I really do think some people get to an age and they are ready.

That's nothing.

Last night MeTV showed part one of the Happy Days episode where The Fonz jumps the shark . . . a truly iconic television moment.

And now we're all going to miss the thrilling conclusion.

Bummer.
 - that was so bad we got the phrase "jumped the shark" from it.
I watched Happy Days, Lavern & Shirley, and Three's Company every Tuesday night of my life from 1976 (?) until it all ended.

You know what's funny about this:

Of course, the phrase has entered the lexicon, but Happy Days "jumped the shark" a long time before the Fonz actually jumped the shark.

Remember Pinky Tuscadero?

Or how about this . . . I'll bet almost nobody remembers this, and frankly I was shocked to see it left in the syndicated reruns.

Fonzie's nephew, Spike: "Hey, Cunningham -- about your sister's build . . . " and he gives the thumbs-up.

Richie: She's eleven.

Spike: Yeah, but she's built like she's twelve.

This is not a joke.

This actually occurred on Happy Days and you can still see it.
