Well, depends on how you define "this generation".

Of bands that started within the last 10 years or so I really like Raconteurs, The Hold Steady, Vintage Trouble and Gaslight Anthem. Going back 25 years or so we got Living Colour, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Toadies and Foo Fighters.

Best rock band ever......... Beatles, just slightly ahead of Led Zep.

I was going to say Radiohead or the Flaming Lips, but I realized they've been around over 20 years, not really of this generation...gosh I'm geting old!

LOL. At first I was going to say the Monkees, but thought differently as the two I listed, and yours, played their own instruments.

And in all seriousness I’ve found “Best Band Ever” changes at times in your life, and as your tastes in music change. At first it was the Monkees, then the Beatles, then Cat Stevens, then the Who, then Frank Zappa & Captain Beefheart, then AC/DC, then Eric Clapton, etc, etc...

Now I’ve come to just enjoy the music, and purchase songs individually and not the "album" anymore.

There is so much great international music available now. I just got a CD of Indian music-- think of the modern pop Bollywood music from Slum Dog Millionare. I can't understand one word of it but it makes me feel energized and happy.
