We’re currently being invaded by tens of thousands of snow geese.

I miss the snow goose that hung around a couple years ago. I do not miss those horrid eagles that kept attacking it though. National bird or not, if I had a rifle, I would have shot them. Did y'all know it was illegal to shoot an eagle? I hope y'all would have visited me in jail :)

I love watching bald eagles. There is a pair every year that nests at a small lake I fish. They're better fishermen than me. :)

I cannot get close enough to this bird to take a good photo. Between the distance and the photo cropping, it looks like that grainy image of the Loch Ness monster lol. The two smudges on the pond are ducks, the bird I can't identify appears between the clumps of grass.

I looked at the bird through binoculars - it has a long straight orange beak, a white head with a black bandit mask, and a grey neck and body. It has to be some kind of heron. I looked at pictures of herons online and decided it must be a grey heron - then discovered grey herons don't live on the American continents lol.

I'm surprised your eagles fish. The two eagles that preyed on my goose seemed to be afraid to get their feet wet. When my goose dove under the water, they circled over the surface of the pond but never extended their claws into the water.

Yes. I am reminded of the first chapter of The Prince of Tides when young Tom kills a bald eagle and his father makes him clean it, eat it, and wear the feathers on his head at school. Talk about public shaming, ha.

I haven't read Prince of Tides (had to wiki it). I'm not surprised Tom's abusive father didn't like the idea of Tom taking down a predator since the father was a predator himself.

Maybe a great blue heron? I’ve seen several here that look like this:

Does it look a bit like this one?

Apparently this is a great blue heron, which can be found in Wyoming

That's it! Thanks Danie :) The blue heron that used to hang out on our pond was smaller and bluer so I didn't think they were the same but your picture looks just like the bird we have now :)
Ooops - sorry - I should have read ahead! :facepalm_smiley::indecisiveness:

(and besides - I see you are in Texas, not Wyoming - I'm mixing you up with someone else)

I feed the little wild birds...around my house with wild bird seed. I like to watch them out the window. There one little boy thou that has red dot on his head. He only male with it and he a player. He feeds the females and any males that come he pushes them off the ledge.

In the What Did You Do Today thread we got on the subject of Walt Disney World etc. and I mentioned parrots.

Here are some ancient pictures of me from many years ago:

Not sure why my hair is longer in the last photo and wow - look at those 80s glasses!

I like birds (in case you couldn't tell)
