You're right, they got confused with a quote from the final episode of the fourth series.
Here's a thing: I didn't see these at the time. IIRC the final ep of Blackadder Goes Forth was broadcast in 1989, when I was only 16. That was one I did see and it was both funny throughout and very powerful/poignant at the end. The reason I didn't see it (or The Young Ones) was, obviously, due to my youth - my parents didn't like either show, so that was that. (I had my own TV, but the aerial was dodgy and I had to jiggle the entire set around, resting it at an angle on the corner of my dressing table, just to get a watchable picture on ITV. I wasn't able to get BBC at all.)
I never got to see the repeats, either, for one reason or another.
At least now there's Netflix - though my gf has seen them all countless times and moans when I put one on.

I think I was about ten when I first watched Blackadder. I watched part of Series 3, Episode 4 (It was the Macbeth one). I liked it, so I went back and watched Series 1. Plenty of the jokes went over my head, but I still enjoyed it.
Can you believe I've never seen this? I know of it because my Tall Guy is a fan. I was never a huge Rowan Atkinson fan, but I do like Hugh Laurie.
