like that Beatles song.. where the last note goes on and on and on.... not immediately coming to mind (but I'm sure you'll know...)

Hey, Jude.

Na, na, na, na-na-na-na. Na-na-na-na. Hey, Jude.
Na, na, na, na-na-na-na. Na-na-na-na. Hey, Jude.

I used to crack Grandma up because we'd be listening, and somewhere in the song, I'd blurt out, "But I'm not bitter!"

Well, there were Monkees songs I liked too. "Last Train to Clarksville" was probably my favorite (and creepily spot on to a story in the family, for some other time). And their "Believer" songs were fine ("I'm a" and "Daydream").

Good to know! I'm always glad to hear of good personalities in the entertainment biz.

But it's still an awful song.

Actually one of my faves, and not because I was a DJ who had to go number two and this and "Stairway to Heaven" were the fallbacks. I really like the work in the instrumental, down to the avant-garde stuff, and of course, that drum riff is iconic.
...oh yeah, those that survive to this day will freely admit the song blew chunks...and though it went to number one, they made nothing from it because of underhanded agents....another band from the same area, that I have had the honor of knowing-was another "one hit wonder", The Music Explosion...their claim to fame, "Little Bit of Soul" Number 1 in 1967. The lead guitarist still lives and works in the Mansfield area...Rick Nesta is his name, and he owns Rocky's Pub-a business founded by his father...great food and a good friend...
