This is a tardigrade. They were here long before humans and will be long after we are gone.
Apparently they've survived each cataclysmic event in our planets history. According to the TV series, Cosmos.
I guess I cringe at statements by humans accused of being dumb enough to bring themselves to extinction who are yet trusted to know what will be after they are gone.
It is humanity's arrogance that we think are superior. But Mother Earth will take us to task for our foolishness.
During the winter in Yosemite, coming off of El Capitan, there is an almost non-existent waterfall called Horsetail Fall. During the last two weeks in February, if there is water trickling over the edge, and if it is clear at sunset (which doesn't happen too often due to the winter storms) the setting sun will turn this waterfall into a stream of molten fire. The waterfall lights up like molten lava due to the angle of the sun.
She is awesome! She won a Grammy a few years back . . .I think.
