I think we’re all a bit tired of coronavirus about now and all the bad news that we hear about it. It’s also becoming way too political and we don’t need to hear about that either. For that reason and because the other coronavirus thread has gotten way too far into the HT territory (my apologies for my part in that), I’m closing down the old one and starting this one.

This thread will only be for the good news stories related to coronavirus. Sounds like an oxymoron but they’re out there, including from our own members, so let’s have more sharing of those. Fair warning: any other posts that start drifting into HT will be deleted. There are plenty of other places on the internet where you can go if you want to talk about what a bad job the (fill in the blank) government is doing, why can't we reopen quicker, conspiracy theories, etc. so no whining about censoring your opinions. You're free to express them there.

Thank you! I appreciate this.

I've been working really hard on my yard these last weeks. It's looking so nice. My garden is planted and thriving. I bought flowers for my pots, gorgeous.

My neighbors had 12 paver blocks they didn't want any longer and asked if I wanted them. I offered to pay but they just wanted to get rid of them. So, he wheeled them over and unloaded them.

Random act of kindness. Sharing and caring. Don't they teach that in kindergarten? They were great Do-Bees.

Has anyone else been watching John Krasinski's Some Good News videos on YouTube? They've been a great diversion and uplifting stories. More acts of kindness. Loved the Hamilton one and the prom one uploaded recently was timely for prom season.

No, but I have watched Leslie Jordan's videos. Crack me up!

Someone on here posted one of his vids, (I would give you credit if I could remember!) and they are quite entertaining. Quick little bites of quirk.

I watched one a few weeks ago. I liked it. I haven't watched the regular news in a long time. I've been cooking, reading, writing, researching, and doing yard work. Therapeutic stuff. I think I'm narrowing down my list of flower seeds; I'm going to try planting hollyhocks, foxglove, and zinnias. Of course I'll probably buy marigolds in trays. As far as current events, I'm an optimist. "Keep it moving", as my friend says. :)

Some of my favorite flowers. Peony is my all-time favorite. Do you plan to have a vegetable garden, too, this year? Gardening is such a great way to de-stress and get fresh air and exercise.

Our children's librarian made some lovely masks for us all to wear when we do, eventually, start interacting with patrons again. She's a talented young lady and quite "crafty" in that regard. Right now we're only allowing patrons to return their items in our book drop where they are sanitized before being shelved. Next week we start "porch pickup" for holds placed on items in our local system.

I love peonies, too, but I don't know how well they'd do down here. Too hot and humid? Not sure. Definitely among my favorites. (Have you grown them in Maine?)
No unfortunately I can't do a garden because of flooding issues. I do look forward to visiting the many farmer's markets in my area. Peach season is just about to start.

Yes, I have several different colors. They can be finicky and don't like to be moved but once you find the right spot, they do well. Not sure about the growing zones for them.

have you tried a raised bed? Take some old pallets and make one. Many businesses give those away and you can make them as tall as you want.

I considered it. I know people who have done it and say how it saves their back in the long run. The hardest part is getting them built, and apparently even that is fairly simple. With my breathing problems I'd need a little help. Playing it by ear.
