Here is an idea.
In a smart world, to prevent the spread of an infectious disease, you would shut the world down, stop the airports, lock countries down, it would have caused chaos, but nothing like what is going down now. But we didn't, becasue we aren't in a smart world. And why did we not do this?
Simple. Money.
It would have lost too much money to shut the world down.
Well, we can't blame anyone but ourselves.
.......still comes down to survival of the strongest, I say.

It is inefficient and self defeating to shut down the world that way.
AND Monetary losses would take a toll on research and prevention as well as tending to the afflicted. IMO.

Wouldn't have had to shut the world down, could have just have locked China down, but they didn't because of all that money. Do you honestly think that they are spending money on research? And if so then what percentage? And I would say that having an incurable disease across the world is far more self defeating than locking down a few airports.

I don't think its as bad as the Media and everyone says it is...yea its scary but its not going to kill everyone people need to stop spreading scary false information for one thing because there are people who believe that kind of thing when they see it. I have a cousin who wants to take her kids out of School and stay in doors for a long time now. She is panicking really bad. I only believe what is said directly from the WHO and CDC not some crazy internet trolls or w/e.

The fact is that there is no cure for this and there isn't going to be, have the media scare mongered this, yes. It hasn't reached a pandemic yet, but that it soon.

Any cases in Pennsylvania yet?
Don’t really know yet as the state just started testing for it, and I’ve read several cases are currently under review. Several students at the college just down the street from where I work recently returned from a trip to China and one got sick with the symptoms. It was decided by state health officials the student should be hospitalized. I probably interact with these students every week at the local grocery store. The tests on that student came back negative but there is some concern because the federal government’s test kit for CONVID-19 has been proven to be faulty and at times gives the wrong diagnosis.

My youngest was hospitalized in Washington, DC early last month with a severe case of the flu. She attends a university there and the city is loaded with international students, diplomats and visitors from all over the world. She uses mass transportation to get around. They didn't test her for CONVID-19 at the hospital but she was really sick for some time. The hospital bill was over $17,000. So who knows if she had it?

Dear god that hospital bill is a joke, the fact that the US still doesn't have free health care is ridiculous. I'm scared as well for my university is full of students from that region and there has already been cases proven to have the virus, only a few but I'm sure it's went everywhere at this stage, luckily my lecturers are on strike for a few weeks but I'm honestly a bit wary of returning. The fact that the UK hasn't stopped travel is a joke, but thats the UK government for you. Hopefully it doesn't become serious in the US.

....unless one is very young, elderly, immunocompromised, has a bad heart or lungs-the risk is not that high in my opinion, yes, you’ll get sick but it’s not the death sentence the media would like everyone to believe.....standard precautions folks, that’s the trick....

Yea that's what I keep hearing too GNTLGNT. Its good to see some people being rational about this at least. Good Hygiene is important as always wash you're hands for over 20 seconds with Soap I think they said too and stay away from anyone who you think might be ill or sneezing/coughing a lot.

Ah, so it's just a bad cold, huh, the media would have you believe that it's the plague!
