I'm not sure how to wrok my way around this message board yet, so I just thought I'd post something that bothered me until just recently. I decided that I was going to replace all my King books. I think I prefer paperbacks, but have recently started buying hardcovers as well; the newer ones look a lot cooler than the older ones. But I was annoyed that publishers start to release all the books with a series of covers (paperbacks) and then change them - sometimes before they have all been released - and then start again! I love the covers by Hodder, and my collection is growing! Has this issue bothered anyone else? Or is it just me.

I don't like it when the cover is ripped off but I guess that is sort of a different topic. I got a free book (The Stand) but the cover was detached so I will tape it back.

But like Mom used to say "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth!" (It was at one of those places where you leave a book and take another book) - on vacation.

Here is a perfect example of the expression "Don't judge a book by its cover"!
That was a moment in television history that rocked us all and gave us the much-needed 'slap-in-the-face'. I hope that Susan Boyle can survive show business. She's had a couple of rough patches since this performance changed her life. I wish her well!

I have always been fascinated by book and album covers. Such artwork! That said, having worked in publishing, I realize there is a need to change up covers based on reissues, demographics, etc., etc., so it does not bother me. I do like to have all the same type of cover for a series of books (like my Wizard of Oz collection) but for one author, it does not matter. Of course the exception with SK is the DT series, of which I have a full collection of Books 1-7 with the same covers.

Nope. I like mine all original and hardcover.

The original HC's for Desperation and The Regulators were cool and the concept for Lisey's Story stood out. Many of Clive Barkers covers are eye-catching because of his personal artwork.
Yeah, I'm a big fan of Clive Barker. I love the Books Of Blood, and I thought Mister B. Gone was a brilliant unique read. I agree though - about Desperation & The Regulators - the ones with the eye on the front? I thought they were so cool!

I know exactly what you guys mean. I didn't mean that I judge a book by its cover. It's just that I guess I have a kind of OCD when it comes to my books. My paperbacks for instance - I'd rather have the whole collection with the same covers by the same publisher rather than a few covers by hodder and a few by doubleday for instance. But it is what is inside that counts, obviously, I am just a neat freak with books!
